Through war we will teach your heresy.
Through battle we will teach your frailty.
Through death we will teach your fate.

In the June OXM where it talks about level/level design, it makes indications that levels will be 5x larger than AotCR, and will be generally geared toward having vechicles. Does this mean that most of the levels will have vechicles, and very few will contain that original run-and-gun forumla? Or that walking will become only unecassary, but obselete becuase of the new 'boosting function?'

Your thoughts?

I think there will be a bit of both. But more levels on Halo 2 will contain vehicles now (in my oppinion)

you brought up a good point. about 1/2 the levels on Halo 2 should be the "classic run and gun" stuff and the other half vehicular stuff, but well have to wait and see. i think i read somewhere that there will be more levels than halo 1 as well.

Yah, because the levels that do have vechicles in Halo 1 are/where really fun, but if more levels are vechicle oriented than it might lose the "Halo Feel."

They've also pointed out that there are many ways to move through a level and that we aren't limited to any one route.

Take for example the e3 2003 demo. You could always have refused to get into the warthog and just walked, using your battle rifle to clean up the streets.

If you think about it. That gives Halo2 tremendous replay value.

yeah, it'd be pretty silly to make vehicles the only way to get around a level. i have little doubt that even the big levels will have paths useful for getting around disreetly, or that offer some kind of strategic importance.

You don't have to use vehicles but if you don't want to take a whole day just to finish a level I suggest you do I think there will be parts like AOTCR indoor and outdoor especially when MC goes to the other halo.

I cant wait to play some well designed levels like Zanzibar, something about that map has a feel too it. I cant quite explain, its just not as straight forward as blood gulch and sidewinder, theres a lot more to it. And i just want more maps like that.

I like vehicle maps better, so they should put half and half. The non-vehicle maps should be smaller and a lot cooler than the Halo 1 non-vehicle maps

It should be clear. Zanzibar is tight. The firing angles are well thought out almost as if it's segmented into several fighting arenas. Many of the corridors are tight, barely a meter wide. I love those.

One problem I've had with the Halo1 maps is that they are expansive, entirely open. Even most of their corridors are at least three meters wide.

Yeah Draerden, you're right about the Halo 1 maps. They just have wide open spaces and get kind of boring sometimes. Especially with the Forerunner tunnels, why are they so fricking high. I really hope that Halo 2 will make more use of space instead of just having huge clearings.

i dont mind large maps (in fact, they're really cool) in single player.

but i like the smaller, more condenced maps in multiplayer.

I'm sorry but the starter of this thread quoted wrong.

It's any level is 4x larger than AotCR. And it's Halo 2 that is roughly 5x larger than Halo 1, or so the magazine said.

They stated that 90% of the levels will include marine backup, similar to the second level in Halo 1, which in fact, was one of my favorite. There will be much less run and gun, such as in levels like the library and keyes. There still will be indoor run and gun throughout the levels though. it will be much more widescale and each level will be like a huge battle.

Yeah, you can do anything you want, but the vehicles are provided. Sometimes you NEED a banshee to get to the next part though.

dont worry "the halo feel" will even be better it wil have a "halo 2 feel" :P
Im not worrying one bit about this i think bungie will take a good amount of time so halo 2 wont change it to a vehicle game!
