I think that the Shadow or some earlier version of it was going to be in Halo 1 but was cut. It's entirely possible that it would end up in Halo 2.

The Covenant Shadow is the equivalent of the Warthog. It holds 1 driver, 1 passenger, and 1 gunner. And yes, that is what the Shadow really looks like.
Also, it is not 100% certain that the Shadow will be in Halo 2. However, it is very likely that it will be.

i hope the shadow is in halo2, it looks fun. I just hope that the shade turret is beefed up on it or fuel rod guns are added or SOMETHING. cos lets face it, shades are crap. shade turrets are no match for a LAAG. although i do really like shades, they're just not very powerful or accurate.

I've read in a couple of places that the Shadow is a little freakier then what's been prevously said here.

The Covenant Shadow is supposed to have one driver and one gunner These occupants protected similarly to those in the warthog by being inside the body of the vehicle. Cover is good. In this way the occupants are protected from small arms fire.

The difference lies in that the warthog can have but one passenger in the side seat while the Shadow can have two passengers, one clinging to each side. Sure you get an extra man riding into battle but this has its cost. The main disadvantage to this over the warthog though is that those clinging to the sides have absolutely no cover at all. They're like giant bulleyes flypapered to the Shadow's door.

In the old EGM article, there is a little drawing (kinda looks like a gameboy pic) that shows only three Elites in it (one driver, one passenger, and one gunner).

He is referring to the enemy sitting on the wings of the Shadow in addition to the three spots(Gunner, driver, passenger)

That's an early concept shot from before Halo1. I've read different things about the Covenant Shadow since. The EGM 2002 magazine was quite specific that there was a driver, gunner, and two men hanging on the wings. There was no passenger seat.

Is it true? Who knows.

Thats not what I was talking about. There is a picture with little Elites and Spartans fighting with what reminds me of old Gameboy graphics.
But that article was from 2002, and things probably would have changed by now.

i remember seeing somewhere that flagbearers will no longer be able to drive or mount the gunner's turret on the warthog, only ride shotgun. i wonder, first of all, whether of not that's confirmed. second, if it has been i guess that means the same for all vehicles?

Hmm... I haven't seen that one Haloruler. Though come to think of it, the Halo Companion DVD has the Shadow in it. It was a pretty cool CG sequence. A bunch of marines enter into a forerunner structure get all the way to the bottom and then are ambushed by Elites using Plasma Swords and Energy shields!!! Yes, Energy Shields at the same time.

The marines are annihilated as they try and escape and one of the last two surviving marines plants a C-12 charge on the shadow and urges the other one to escape while he holds off the Elites all by himself. It's a brave sacrifice.

The Elites after finishing that courageous marine pile into the vehicles to chase after that last marine. The one's in the Shadow hear a beeping and look down. Gape... and are blown to smithereens. The others hunt down the marine.

The marine is beaten down, just about dead the last elite standing over him. This is where you get that famous line as the elite prepares to strike him down, "Your destruction is the will of the gods and we are their instruments."

That of course is where the chief comes in...

Come to think of it... I'm going to watch that again.

It was free with a Brute Force pre-order at Electronics Boutique. It shows a history of Halo before it hit the Xbox.

The vid is very long which probably why I haven't seen it online.
