Heyyo,
LOL! Ekul PWNED you pc_gamer, sry buddy, he speaks the truth. :)
Here's the story: Gearbox wanted graphics to be better on PC than on $box, so they made it for dx9, with pixel shader v2.0 Halo for xbox was for dx8 with pixel shader v1.4. NOTE barely any difference in visual quality, why? gearbox fell a little short on using the full potential of pixel shader v2.0... especially on the optimization side. :p
and yes, xbox has a Geforce 3, aboot the same power of a TI500 overclocked. GF3 is a DX8.1 videocard. Only after NV GF4 FX5200 was their videocards DX9.
Now, whoever does Halo2PC will probably do the same... but hopefully with better optimizations, or else yet again xbox n00bs will say how much better their xbox is than a good PC.
REMEMBER THIS XBOX N00BS: Bungie had 4 YEARS, 4.... YEARS (hopefully if I repeat they might hear it over their small xbox-egos, lol...) to make Halo. They were bought out in 2000. M$ provided them I'm guessing a huge chunk of the halo for xbox engine, so most of that dirty work was done for them. So it took them no time at all to port Halo to xbox with good optimizations.
NOW, for HaloPC... did anyone provide Gearbox with a good PC engine? no. Did M$ give them a good chunk of an engine to help? NO. Gearbox had to build a whole new game engine from SCRATCH. Why from scratch and not get a licence to a pre-built engine like the Unreal Warfare engine or the Cry Engine? profits. If they used a pre-built engine they'd have to dish out quite a bit of cash. It's cheaper just to build a new engine, whether it's crappy or not. Turns out it was crap, but at least Gearbox made a huge profit, good for them... bad for us gamers...
