Or "ZOGs" as I like to call them, are types I came up with to help balance out the Zombie genre and add a bit of zaz to the game.

First off I'd like to state that I don't know off hand who came up with the Zombie gametype. Only seconded by CTF in my personal list of favorites, Zombies is becoming a fast-growing trend that is taking Live by storm.

One thing I've noticed in particular, however, is that many Zombie games tend to not go anywhere within a reasonable amount of time. Such as when the Humans barricade themselves inside one of the rooms in foundation and sit there teamkilling and such for the next 15-30 minutes while one Zombie tries desperately to get through. This is why I came up with the "Zombie Objective Gametype" and have been experimenting with it in my own servers. This not only promotes teamwork among the Humans, but also forces them to move around the map, giving the Zombies a fair chance while also making the game a little more interesting.

On a side note, don't let the word "Objective" throw you off too much, whereas the Zombies' objective remains exactly the same no matter what the gametype... to infect and convert the Humans. Nothing more and nothing less. Truly, the "Objective" term is directed soley at the Humans who now have a primary goal in addition to steering clear of the clutches of the relentless undead.

Additionally, the Earth City community will be sponsoring these gametypes in conjunction with several others. Most of these servers will be invite only to prevent confusion from the outside. If you would like to participate, add my gamertag Tyrant122312 to your list and send me a message. Also, feel free to register your clan with Earth City to assist in setting up matches against other competing clans.

1) Stronghold (aka Zombie Hill)

Gametype: Crazy King
The Win: 3 Minutes
Human Starting Weapon: Magnum
Zombie Starting Weapon: Energy Sword
Weapons on Map: Magnums, SMGs
Suggested Maps: District, Headlong, Foundation, Turf, Terminal, Uplift, Containment

Just like regular Zombies, only with a twist. Humans must hold up inside the hill for 3 minutes as it shifts around the map, all while avoiding the armies of the undead. Starting weapons are Magnums but can be traded up for SMGs. If the Humans are able to hold their ground for 3 minutes, they win. Otherwise, the land falls into Zombie hands. Advice? Move as one and watch the shadows.

2) Mad Dash (aka Zombie CTF)

Gametype: Single-Flag CTF
The Win: 3 Captures
Human Starting Weapon: Magnum
Zombie Starting Weapon: Energy Sword
Weapons on Map: Magnums, SMGs
Suggested Maps: District, Headlong, Turf, Terminal, Foundation, Zanzibar, Uplift, Containment

You once had two primary concerns: capturing the enemy's the flag, and maintaining your own. Now the latter issue has been replaced by survival. Become infected, and you become one of them, defending the last thing you know. Three captures to win and only one flag on the board. Run with it... literally.

Note: In CTF there can only be Red and Blue teams, so this time around, Zombies are blue... blue as in Code Blue.

3) Land of the Dead (aka Zombie Territories)

Gametype: Territories 3 Plots
The Win: 5 Minutes
Human Starting Weapon: Magnum
Zombie Starting Weapon: Energy Sword
Weapons on Map: Magnums, SMGs, Battle Rifles
Suggested Maps: District, Turf, Terminal, Uplift, Foundation, Relic, Gemini

This time around, Zombies can win one of two ways: either convert the Humans like usual, or capture the three plots and make the five minutes. To balance things out, Battle Rifles have been placed on various parts of the map to help contain the contagion.

4) Kamikazi (aka Zombie Assault)

Gametype: Assault
The Win: 1 Round
Human Starting Weapon: Magnum
Zombie Starting Weapon: Energy Sword
Weapons on Map: Magnums, SMGs
Suggested Maps: District, Headlong, Burial Mounds, Waterworks, Uplift, Coagulation, Containment

A decent sized map is recommended for this one while you take the fight to the Zombies. The game implies exactly how the title sounds. The Humans have been given a Havok tactical nuke to plant in the heart of the Zombie infestation. Succeed, and you've taken the fight to the Zombies. Otherwise, the outbreak will continue to spread. Normal Zombie rules apply. Humans need only one assault to win.

5) Outbreak (aka Fiesta Zombie)

Gametype: Team Slayer
The Win: Avoid infection for 15 minutes
Human Starting Weapon: Random
Zombie Starting Weapon: Energy Sword
Weapons on Map: None
Suggested Maps: District, Headlong, Turf, Zanzibar, Foundation, Uplift, Lockout, Gemini

Well it finally happened. The Zombies learned how to use guns. Players start with random weapons, but must conserve the ammo for there are no randomly placed weapons on the map. While Zombies are still allowed to use weapons and vehicles to off the Humans and break through barricades, they can only infect Humans using the energy sword. Let me repeat; only Humans killed by the energy sword switch to the Zombie team.

Thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

I suggest you put NO BATTLE RIFLES, at all. It's Magnum for Humans, only, and swords only for "Zombies". If not, it'll simply ruin your game.

The only gametype with BR listed up there is the Territories variant... and that's kinda understandable, sorta.

For a Zombies Slayer game, what you say should always be a given... no questions asked.

Yeah, I meant for Zombie. Sorry if I wasn't specific.

You are exactly right. As I stated in my Rules of Engagement thread, BRs in a Zombie slayer game are grossly unfair since one headshot to an unshielded player means certain death. However I do consider the Land of the Dead variant a bit different. Allow me to explain.

In every other Zombie varient, Zombie victory can only be achieved by one method... infection. Once the entire Human team has been converted, Zombies win. However in Land of the Dead, the Zombies have another root to take if they so chose. Up front, particularly with the maps listed, Zombies would completely own the Humans with the energy sword being the most powerful short-range weapon in the game. That being said, keep in mind that Zombies can multiply where as Humans can't. One death equals conversion. Zombies can die continuously without any regret. Multiplication results in being able to cover more territories with more personnel. Believe me, I've tried this with magnums and SMGs alone, and let me tell you, the Humans never win. This primarily results in the fact the Humans are forced to spread out in order to cover all three territories. Remember, Humans only have one way to win whereas Zombies have two. Adding a few BRs to the board seems to help even the odds and balance things out. Keep in mind that the BR is not the starting weapon, so the Humans are still forced to wander the map in order to find one, but at least they have the ability to do so.

Okay, we get your point... you said this in the other thread as well. Sentinel Beams are really good at killing shields, though, the general aim of Zombies is to go for the Magnum bullet in the head for a one-shot kill. Sentinel Beams would just grind away and gradually get a kill, allowing the Zombie ample opportunity to come in for the kill with the superior Energy Sword. You may think it's fun, but for the core definition of Zombies and fair balance between teams, it's a bit nonsensical.

In addition, I personally am against using any energy weapons at all when it comes to Zombies (aside from the sword). The sentinel beam is an issue of accuracy. It's too accurate and fires continuously. I think this actuqally gives the humans a stronger advantage in the beginning of the game, yet do to the lack of power, it suffers greatly at the end. No beams in EC Zombie games.

Also, for those who want to join, I'll be setting up a custom game of Zombie variants tonight starting at 7:00PM EST.
