I'm using my college's dorm internet, and for some reason they won't allow any kind of server to run on thier network (something to do with bandwith and security). Since my dorm's internet is super fast (T1+) I'm thinking that Halo 2 will always choose me as a host, thereby making me run a server, which would then kick me off the network for at least 30 minutes. They also don't like game consoles on thier network, but I found a way around it using Windows ICS.

Is there any way to prevent my Xbox 360 from hosting a Halo 2 matchmaking game?

What college are you attending?

I remember when I went to UCI everyone just played LAN across their networks. It was so freaking awsome, they always had 10-20 matches for peoeple to join. Halo CE and Halo 2.

Those were the days, ALSO there isn't really a way to make yourself NOT hold. sry

I'm at the University of Florida. They just stopped allowing game consoles on thier network just last spring. They also just upgraded thier dorm network to require 802.1X authentication, and they also have this program that scans for open ports on your computer that could be used to host a server (for P2P programs and such). If they catch you, 1st offense is 30 minutes of no internet, 2nd is 5 days, and then it gets really bad. The main reason is to stop P2P programs like KaZaa and Limewire, but they don't want any servers at all.
