Recently ive found that i really need a new video card. usually when i play with many players firing many weapons there is lag and i cant stand it. When i usually play Halo CE with custom maps, the way the maps are made lag me to death.
As of right now My specs are as followed

Compaq Persario2100
Windows XP
Processor:Mobile AMD Athlon(tm) XP2500+
1.86GHz
448 MB of RAM
Video card:RADEON IGP 320M
(i dont know if i need to write down more specs)(its also a laptop)

Anyways, ive also recently been searching for New ATI video cards.I found some that ranged in price from 100-400.
The problem is, i dont know if there is special kinds that work on laptops only.Or i dont know if all of them work on certain laptops or all laptops.Could anyone tell me of some decent video cards from price range of 150-250 that are better than the one you see above in the specs. Where can i find this card? And how can i get it installed? Can other places install it for me?

Maybe you could include what video cards you use and how your satisfaction is with them...I just want to know as much as i can before i acutually buy one soon...

Please help me out..Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Heyyo,

For playing many games and games like Halo? I suggest ATI videocards, they tend to do better than Nvidia in most games.

For laptops, you have to look at either ATI's Mobile Radeon series, or Nvidia's Geforce Go seires. The rest are for normal desktop computers.

I think what you might be looking for is a ATI Mobile Radeon 9100. Sure, it's not the newest videocard out there, but at least it's one of the best made so far for a laptop.

Just like to point out that with only 1 exception, you can't upgrade laptop graphics cards, so choose wisely. ATi's Mobility Radeon 9700 is 'the best' mobile graphics card, but as with all laptops it simply won't have the power of a desktop equivalent.

right, you buy laptops with integrated cards that's why you can't buy or upgrade them. don't bother looking for laptop cards, they don't exsist. the 'one exception' is the Alienware Area 51m which you can put normal graphics cards in, but it's expensive and the batteries last 5 minutes j/k there abouts. so yeah, buy a laptop with a ATi 9700, you can't upgrade an old one.

yeah...your stuck.
if you can get a small PC, i'd recomend it for next time, instead of a laptop. unless you get a full size PC, which is probably best for gaming

Heyyo,

Heh, I've got your small computer right here buddy. ;)

http://www.ncix.com/ncixpc/index.php?action=config&id=128 01

Now that pwns eh? :)

I always did wonder for laptops if they had any external videocards... it only seems to be HD and RAM and CDrom and Floppy drives that you can upgrade... and yes, Alienware's got some of the best rigs, other 2 big names are Falcon and Voodoo. They make sweet computers, and at lower costs than alienware. ;)
