It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

I followed you untill the last paragraph. After that comprehension totally went to hell.

I'm not too sure a dent large enough to tear a hole in space is really plausible.

...Time travel is possible.

Thats all im going to say for now.

Time travel forward is possible, but your post just wasn't quite relevant.

Can we please not start more threads on space/time/blackholes/etc? pretty soon people will post things that other people will deny, then Obbi will come in calling everyone stupid in a much more complex way, then it will just turn ugly... at least thats what happened to the last one of these that I remember.

so your saying i could do all my studying for algebra tests i failed in eighth grade, punch a hole in space, travel through, and tell myslef the answers so i didnt have to retake the class in highschool??? But that would mean i would have gotten into calculus during high school and then i wouldnt have had to take all those college math courses, saving me money, and with that money i might have rented a better apartment and had more parties, thus increasing my drunkenness and accidentally murdering my girlfriend.... my head hurts

Well i dunno what I'm talking about but doesnt the string theory state that our strings are tied down to a particular membrane and that makes it impossible to move from one membrane to the next? I think we could see in the future or past, if not able to travel to the present/past.

the point is...
1. time travel is possible. einsteins theory is somewhat flawed in the fact where as if u were too travel fast enough, time slows down...its been proven
2. nothing escapes a black hole, not even light.
3. read "String Theory" or mabey brush up on other RECENT theories

Well as I said I dunno what I'm talking about, but what would happen if you went back in time and killed your ancestor, like your great-great-great grandfather or something?

Thats the big "?" (or a big loop) in the subject, what would happen if you traveled back to before you were born and killed your father/mother? because if so you'd think that you would just then not exist, but then you wouldn't have existed to kill your dad/mom, so then you would exist, like I said it's a really freaky cycle. really gets you thinking, but to no point.

Well...yeah, time travel is probably possible, buy why would you want to? You could completely mess up life as you know it (if you go o the past) or you can go to the future, and see just how good or bad your life will be...I'd rather keep it the same, and let my future be a suprise.

Oh, and by the way, I think I followed about half of that...then I was lost.

Watch that Simpsons episode where Homer "fixes" his toaster. That explains everything.

Actually #2 isn't, a while ago scientist discovered that some known Black Holes are emitting Gamma Rays (and maybe X Rays), so that does escape black holes, and to say that just because light can't escape a black doesn't say that nothing can. maybe the escape velocity of a black hole is just more than that of the speed of light, so maybe something traveling faster can escape black holes. Now common physics states that faster-than-light travel is impossible, but I read something about an experiment with having two similar particles, and they spun one in one direction, and the other instantly started spinning in another direction, they measured the time it took for the other to start spinning and did the math to the distance between the particles and found that in order for the other particle to "know" to start spinning in the other direction, some sort of 'information" had to be traveling faster than the speed of light, and I think thats where it gets into wormholes (if I remember right, it's thought that a wormhole of some kind exists between the two)

how can we go to the future if it hasn't happened yet?

How can we go into the past if it's already set? you get my point? you see I'm pointy.
