.........all night I;ve been trying to join friends games on HALO2 - the very same people I played yesterday on it without issues and in fact since the launch of this great game.

But as soon as I select join party - after like 10 secs or so it says I can't join and to try again later.

There are spaces in the server and its a standard custom game, and happens even when attempting to join from an invite :-(

Only started tonight though.....and on the 2 occassions I managed to join (out of MANY attempts) - as soon as the round finished, I was booted back to the screen where you start a fresh server! My friends say I just "left" - as if I disconnected myself.

BAAAAH!!! Annoying.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I've called XBox Live support twice in the last 2 weeks to see if a fix is coming. They said they are working on it when I called the first time, on the second call, the guy wasn't familiar with the issue but recommended that I delete and re-add my friends to my list. I haven't tried it yet, but he said it "might" work. Maybe we all need to keep calling them to put some additional pressure on them to resolve this issue. I told them I may not renew my subscription until the issue is resolved, he didn't want to hear that and asked for my patience. I'll give 'em another week. :-)

I originally had this problem, But I found out what it means and fixed it.
If you can join other games, I have no idea what it means but if you just cant join any games
it probably has to do with your router. The good news is that you dont have to spend anymore money. I had to go into my xbox live setup and find out what my IP address is for my router. What this means is the adress that your Xbox identifies on the router. If your router does not recognize to put Xbox live in front of other connections all of the information going to your Xbox will be lost before it makes it there. Your best bet would be to call your internet provider and just ask someone in the tech department how to fix this problem since it will be different for every service and every router. Believe me these geeks in the tech department have probably had to deal with Xbox live a few times before and will know how to fix your problem. I don't know if any of this will be helpfull, but it helped me so I thought I would share.

Most ISPs won't TOUCH a user's home router setup. Some of the bigger ones won't even offer you technical support if you've got a router installed that they didn't install themselves.

There's plenty of information on the net regarding XBox Live! and the ports required to play. That and the user's manual for your router and you should be good to go.

You could also buy a router that's Xbox Live certified and then you don't have to worry about it at all.
