where is the "It takes a lot of skill option"?

first of all I play with people who go to MLG events and no one just sits back and quad shoots. It is not an easy thing to do so people don't do it. BxR are used a lot however. These things do take practice and have to be accepted as part of matchmaking

I'll be the first to admit it's kinda cheap (as it wasn't intended and not everyone can do it) but to say it doesn't take skill is way off base.

Double shots are possibly the hardest things to pull off in this game (effectively.) It's not like everyone can do it and suddenly beef up their BR's.

The other day I faced a team of four who all could double shot really well. We got handled......but I was playing team hardcore at level 30, it's expected for that to happen, and I knew the chance of it happening was there, but I play the list anyway because I've become accustomed to what it's about. It's not about glitches though, but in this one particular case the fact that they all could double shot put us at a disadvantage.

All in all though, glitches do take skill to do (because not everyone is going to be good at them,) but yeah, for those that can't it is cheap. But hey, it's how the game's played now. All you can do is leave Feedback if it happens.

Sometimes. I do know where you're coming from though. I've been quad shotted/three shotted/double shotted many times and when it happens to you, you do feel a bit........."low" LOL.

I honestly don't know what to tell ya though.....guess all I can say is try to move on. Halo 3 is less than a month away, no button glitches in that game (or at least none that make a difference in skill, really.)

Well it may take mild skill to press three buttons in a row, exploiting a glitch whenever possible is just stupid and ruins the game for those of us that just want to sit down and play a fair game.

  • 08.27.2007 4:14 PM PDT

CxEnvy did you have a change of heart?

i quote from a different thread

anyone who has to use button glitches to win is not good

now in this thread you are saying that Double shotting takes skill? Its a button glitch but in a different thread you say they arent good? what happened bro

yes it does because I cant do it while my freinds who im better then can.

  • 08.27.2007 4:27 PM PDT

I think that BXR is a bit cheap because it's a free kill, but unless you are backed into a corner and don't like to jump for whatever reason, you should be able to dodge it. Cheap, yes, but hard to pull off easily.

The double shot/quad shot is different. It's almost turning your BR into a constant stream of accurate bullets in a method which really wasn't intended to be used. If it HAD been intended, do you think it would be acknowledged as cheating by Bungie? Sure, anybody can do it, but that's like saying anybody can standby, anybody can mod, or that anybody can cheat in any way. I simply don't see it as legitimate.

GT xAxPAPERxCLIPx

my game play has improved 99% ever since ive learned how to BxR cause if im stuck in a corner shields are down and someone has found me a quick bxr and then im outta there and safe one less kill for other team

double shot and quad shots are hard as hell to pull off in a MM game cause people cant pull it off in a tight situation against someone who is unpredictable
but people get better at then start doing it in MM games a lot it just means they can press buttons faster then other people

and just amagin the buttons they press (R,R,X,Y,Y,R,R,X) for a quad shot
(Sry ^^^ cant spell)

Host advantage wasn't intended and is way better than any button combo. Not to mention only one person in the game can use it. Same for grenade jumping. So by the whole "it wasn't intended" logic, they're cheating as well.

I love kids like you who have the whole "I'm bad at it, so no one else should be able to do it" attitude.

I'd Rather Be A Smartass Than A Dumbass

Well common sense dictates that the unanimous answer should be. "Yes Button Glitches Do Take A Lot Of Skill".

But this does not mean they are fair. Or that they should be used. That is another matter.

I take a neutral position on this. I will not use them in ranked matchmaking. But it doesn't bother me in the slightest if somebody uses them on me.

I button glitch extensively in unranked games. Or Custom games in which everyone else is also button glitching.

Pulling off and aiming a double shot can be easy if you know what your doing. I will admit double shot can be hard if you are new to it. BXR doesn't take skill you just gotta know when to do it. Lucky halo 3 wont have button combo's :D

The advantage one has in being a host is incomparable to the BXR advantage. There HAS to be a host of a game. Bungie makes it as even as possible by making it completely random, so you cannot intentionally be the host. One CAN intentionally BXR or double shot, and it is completely planned.

Grenade jumping hurts the person who use it, so at least most people who do it end up near dead. BXRing/Double shotting have nothing but unfair advantages for the users.

It doesnt take ALL the fun out.

If you went by that, you would be saying tower of power isnt fun because people can double shoot.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

It's a cheap tactic and those who exploit it in Matchmaking should get the boot.

Quad shots take skill. None of the other button glitches do. I have accepted them, and don't really mind when people use them. However, those whosay that people who use button glitches and beat you would be better than you still without them are wrong. I admit, some probably would. But most every button glitcher I've met depended on those glitches. They couldn't function without them.

So while many may have better base skills, most don't.
