I came up with a stupid theory today at school where there is a crosswalk. My theory is that you can measure one's IQ by how many times they push the crosswalk button while waiting to cross.
Reasons why it makes sense: A lot of people who rapidly push the button countless times don't seem to have the ability to understand that you only need to push the button once, pushing it many times won't make it go faster.
However...
Reasons why it's stupid: Someone may get at the crosswalk late an not push it the same amount as someone there the whole duration (but this can be compensated by measuring it not just as how many, but as a rate), Some people probably know that it won't make it go faster but may do it anyway as a way to pass the time of waiting for the light to change.
So, ironically...
Pressing the button multiple times does make it go faster, but only relative to the person pressing it, By rapidly hitting the crosswalk button will distract you from the waiting and the wait will seem shorter. But you will look like a moron.
