All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

We ninja are supposed to follow the rules because it is our job to enforce the rules.

Frankie's job is to be Frankie. What that actually entails, no one really knows.

I don't think that "rules" was mentioned anywhere in his job description. Unless we count where he scribbled "Kiltz rulez!" underneath his signature.

I understand. Anyway, I'm going to bed now, it's 1 AM here in Norway.

By the way:
I love it when we get some real discussions here in the forums, those usually just gets overrun by spam.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I'm all in favor of publicly available discipline reports. Perhaps we could have a "Today's Naughty Members" section on the commmuntiy page, highlighting some of the more serious (or funny) offenders. That'd teach 'em.

Are you really sure?

It would be the forum equivalent of the Halo 2 leaderboards.
I would like to be able to see my record. It's not something I'd be proud of, but it would still be interesting to see.

I never implied nor suggested it was fair. In fact, I implied the opposite. Indeed, the "play nice" rule is fairly subjective.

And I give second chances all the time. But I also expect people to understand that there are consequences for their actions. And some things are simply not going to be forgivable here. That's just how it is. Criminals may have their rights, but bungie.net users do not have rights here. Think of it like "at will employment." At any time, you are free to leave and never come back without any notice. By the same token, we are free to kick you out at any time, without notice, for any cause, real, imagined, or unknown.

We don't do that, usually. And there is a defined appeal process - Master mods and myself are perfectly willing to hear an appeal. Of course, you could easily make it worse if you act like a whiny child in doing said appeal, but I reverse bans all the time. I also deny appeals and increase punishments a lot too.

Either way, I don't see a problem with Frankie's occassional banning for people he sees as annoying - most deserve it either because they are being annoying or because it was funny. It is our forum, he gets to do that here. And you can always appeal it.

Posted by: GezaB
It's been like that since 2000, tom. I'll allways be bant. Allways. I bet you're one of them people who doesn't believe in second chances. Criminals still have their rights, even if they KILL SOMEONE. However, Achronos, I agree with most of your points, and I do agree that I have been bant alot, and I do agree I should NOT get a second chance, however, Frankie abused his powers. There isn't any fairness in it, even if he does it to me (I've probably been bant the most on this site)

Also, I would like a list of how many times I've been banned.
So basically, just think of Bungie.net as a communist country.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I'd consider it an honor if Frankie paid attention to me for long enough to ban me. You should be shouting your joy from the rooftops.

Though, I understand why you made this thread. It could be considered an inconsistency, being the ninjas are always going around claiming to be fair and what not. As everyone has already mentioned though, Frankie is not a ninja. Frankie is well...Frankie. Doing random things is kinda what Bungie pays him for, and its certainly why we love him. I personally don't think he was being inconsistent either. In order for someone to be consistent, they have to have a pattern or a routine that they are known to follow. Frankie is way too random to have any kind of pattern. And, as the CoC tell us, "Bungie controls everything, we have no rights".

Though, there is still an appeals process. They don't usually look at 7 day bans, but appealing it to Frankie or a Master Ninja via a PM couldn't hurt. Maybe they'd have responded, and maybe they would not have. No sweat off of your forehead.

Incidentally, a week off from the forums is not that big of a deal. If he banned you for a month or more, then you'd have cause to complain. It was only a week, so I'd just forget all about it if I were you (well, if I didn't do the aforementioned rooftop shouting, I'd just forget about it).

Oh, what's this? You have several blacklists. What's that? Was that a funny face? No? I could have sworn you looked at me funny. Did you look at me funny? No? Well, I think you're a liar. A liar with a funny face. I don't like it when people look funny at me. Because when people look funny at me, I get scared, and when I get scared, I start banning people. so I ask you again, DID YOU LOOK FUNNY AT ME?!

EPIC WIN! SIGGED!

Most of the people that would be affected by this "Banned Leaderboard" would just get a kick out of it. It would just give them the attention they are seeking.

Out of site (pun intended), out of mind.

-S

Back when Halo 2 had just gone gold, I banned anyone who discussed content from the leaked copy of the game until the year 2552. I still get messages from people asking to be unbanned.

Anyway, you forget whose website this is if you're asking why a Bungie employee can do this or that.

I agree completely. Not to get all mutinous, but it just seems like taking it overboard when Frankie bans someone because he got his feeling hurt on B.net. He's being a little baby about it. Just my opinion.

And I'm not saying anything should be done about Frankie's decision to ban people because he thinks its funny. I think in any situation when someone with mod powers is going to ban a member they should think of how the scenario will play out after they ban them. Most of the time, if a user is going to be banned, its for good reason. There was obvious misconduct, and it was necessary to ban the member breaking the rules.

But if a member jokes with a bungie content monkey, he shouldn't do it in fear of being banned. A member should be able to joke with the Bungie employees. Its setting a bad example, and making Bungie employees look unapproachable in a social situation.

I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum.

You seem to think that it's not entirely ethical to place such emphasis on the fact that you are a repeat offender. First off I find it very ethical and very pertinent to the situation, so don't try to discard it as if it's rubbish that doesn't matter. Second, how can you expect someone to ignore it? If you are a known trouble maker, it only stands that people notice this and remember this.

I'm going to have to side with Frankie on this one, because, no offense, but you seem like a moron. The same morons that I despise when playing Halo 2. They are quick to be -blam!-s and make life generally miserable, but if someone dares return the favor, their neverending prick-like behavior is only matched by their incessant whining.

Let it go. Just let it go. I know, it's tough. I mean, getting a week ban from an internet forum is a troubling thing and must tax you greatly, but I'm sure you'll be able to pull through.

Well I really don't think the Bungie staff is trying to be anyone's role model or trying to set good examples. I also don't think they want to be approached by people telling them they suck at Halo.
