Subject: Cheats/Hacks on Halo PC?

You know... I've been playing Halo PC since about it's release date. I go to games and I'm looking to have fun without having to worry about people using cheats. Now, when people are doing extremely well in a game (getting kills crazily within very short amounts of time) it seems like they have perfect aim with a pistol from across entire levels. Many people get angered within these games and accuse the person, getting so many kills, of cheating. Now I wonder sometimes that they are using cheats because it seems impossible for people to be so skillful, unless they are completely and utterly obsessed with the game. Browsing through these forums shortly (I'm a new member) I'm getting the impression that there are indeed hacks. Is this true are there hacks? People accuse other people of using AimBots, do these exist? I really want to know, I'm sick of wondering.

It's called PRACTICE. Aimbots would be impossible because of the amount of lead you need.

Yeah, some of them are veterans in CounterStrike or Team Fortress so they had years of the experiences of capping someone accross a map.

Well goweb u again refute the possibility of there being cheats/hacks in Halo PC. Sorry to inform you ,but yes there are hacks /cheats in Halo PC and no matter what kind of propaganda you stick in these forums there will continue to be cheats/ hacks in Halo 2. I agree that alot of people are skilled shots. But to never miss a single round from an AR at long range is "impossible", or to not ever see someone behind you then to shoot a "rocket out of your back" (very timely i add) is again the result of a Hack/cheat. I am sorry to disagree, and am not trying to flame you, but man you really look like someone that either refuses to see the facts, or someone that is trying to keep the lid on Halo PC cheating..

Rockets out of back: Hacked map, only the host can do it

Aimbots are impossible because of the lead time, unlimited ammo and life impossible because of the server-side netcode. So really there aren't many hacks that a client can use, only the host.

umm goweb you wouldnt be trying to defend hackers would you? cause that "rocket out of the back" thing happened on an official bungie server (the only servers i play on), and that is where i see these hacks being applied. so sorry to debunk your debunking but....you really are starting to look as if you are trying to defend hackers.

I believe the hackers of any game should be strung up by the power cord from thier computer.

  • 06.02.2004 5:56 PM PDT

OK, find me the hack and I'll believe you.

ok bud i searched on google so here go. just wondering why you are soo against admiting halo has cheaters?? Also the best hacks only rarely make to the public, but you asked so i retireved (and sent a copy of this URL to the bungie halo PC mailbox also)

http://www.the-chad.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=v iewdownload&cid=18

this is a link to a halo PC mutihack that allows you so see through stuff "wallhack"

so i ask that no one use this link to be the little hackers that the non-hacking players hate soo much.

The first one may be possible, but the second is impossible. It would appear to you that you have unlimited everything, but really you wouldn't.
However, to test them, I suggest that you connect to a Halo server with it installed and take a few screenies to prove it works.

go ahead and have a hay-day with them and post some screenies to tell me im wrong. Of course im not because people hack in Halo PC, and that link proves it

  • 06.02.2004 6:23 PM PDT

No, I'm not using them. I don't need to prove that there are working hacks for Halo.

well then stop trying to tell those reading this topic that there are not. Maybe (if you dont like the fact that people are using hacks) you should get on the wagon and help us berate bungie into doing something about it (i.e. anti-cheat updates).

  • 06.02.2004 6:32 PM PDT

Like I said, prove that there are working, client-side hacks, considering that the ones you posted no longer exist.

Like i said, go for it, downloading hacks makes me as bad as any other hacker that uses them. you asked for proof, i gave it to you, now you continue to refuse to believe there are working hacks in Halo PC. though the proof stares at you cold in the face behind that link. I guess you will never admit to being on the side of the worthless cheating hackers, but your posts tell another story. I was hoping you would join the anti-hacker team and come in for the big win, but you didnt.

  • 06.02.2004 6:39 PM PDT

I haven't seen proof - those hacks have been removed.

ok, you asked for hacks, I found them, there is your proof, Halo PC has not been updated for a while now. This allows the hackers to build hacks for the current version with greater ease. you yourself are starting to look like a hacker. I am sorry to say it but anyone that gets proof then refuses to see the proof is either blind or trying to defend a group of malicious little cheaters. you choose which one you are being a member of.

Ok guys I think your both taking this issue a little out of the lane don't ya think? Who cares if there are hacks or not. The point is if there are they need to be eliminated from fair games. If there aren't then people will just have to get over the fact that the person is a veteran at shooting and such and that you need to practice more.

I care if there are hacks or not. It's really annoying getting wasted with a single shot from a pistol while I have an overshield on. As for the aimbots, yep, there everywhere.

I agree that some thing needs to be done about this cheat problem and have made a post titled "anti-cheat" to try and get the attention of a dev (hopefully). please post any further ideas you may have as to how, and what, needs to be implemented as far as anti-cheating there. also if you agree that cheats suck then take the vote on the same post.

You didn't. You found links puporting to be hacks that probably weren't hacks because the guy who owns the site deleted them from the server.
It matters whether there are hacks or not because it matters whether Gearbox should waste their time implementing anti-hack software rather than fixing the netcode issues.
Really, the only people complaining about hacks are sore losers. My friends and I were accused of cheating in a game of Halo Xbox once.

No the site didnt delete them, you have to be a registered user to download them, calling me or anyone else that witnesses hackers dirty cheating events names like "sore losers"is rude, they are regular happy Halo PC players that HATE cheating. obvioulsy you are posting not to state any real fact or arguement other than the fact that you want to call people names and act like you are some kind of "authority" on the fact of people cheating/hacking in Halo PC. unfortunately you arent, and will probably continue to post replys about something you know absolutely nothing about to look "cool". I suggest that you bring some kind of "real" evidence to the table and show me how people cannot hack Halo PC, as i have shown you (and everyone else that looked at he sight i posted) that there are cheats/hacks availible for download on the net. the ball is in your court goweb... either hit it back with some proof (not more insults and hot air) or dont hit it back at all. People hack/cheat online games..its a fact, and any that deny it are either blind, or are trying to hide the fact from the general populace of gamers to defend the dirty little cheater/hacker.

It's called server-authoritative netcode. Most other games use client-authoritative netcode, which is how you can get unlimited stuff hacks. To read more about this, pay a visit to the Gearbox forums. The Direct3D one may be possible, but a see-through wall really isn't that serious in the whole scheme of things.
Now obviously, you could also hack a map to give you an assault rifle with a zoom mode, or create transparent walls, but this isn't really preventable. You couldn't do it to make your gun more accurate, as the server decides when you hit someone, so it isn't a big deal.
No the site didnt delete them, you have to be a registered user to download them
Then I suggest that you register and e-mail me what you download.
obvioulsy you are posting not to state any real fact or arguement other than the fact that you want to call people names and act like you are some kind of "authority" on the fact of people cheating/hacking in Halo PC.
I would read what you posted, for you fall into this category as well.

EDIT: Just found this at http://www.halomods.com/interviews/bungie1/bungie1.php:

<Gearbox_Halo_Team> We are getting a lot of questions about the netcode; we chose a server authoritative model to eliminate most of the cheating that runs rampant online.

<Randy_Pitchford-DuvalMagic> CS makes the client authoritative about what you shoot. This means that you don't perceive any lag, but it also means that if a client tells the server that he shot a guy in the head, that the server has to trust him. Sometime clients lie - this is called cheating. We don't really like cheating and designed an architecture which inherently combated it.
