Check out "The Art of Halo" book. The section for the hunters has this information. From what i can remember they are made up a large group of spineless worms that mass together etc..

I remember back in the Halo 1 dyas, i was the only one out of my friends that knew how to get a one shot kill on the Hunters. It was so funny because everyone thought i was so good, but it was the simpliest thing ever.

Duh, everyone knows where to shoot a Hunter. Either sneak up and shoot it in the neck when its in its normal stance or face it and when he charges you sidestep and shoot him in the orange mark on his back.

If they are worms then how come they make growling noises that sound like they come from a beast?

Good thing they got a buff in H2, they were way too easy to kill in Halo.

Unless I'm mistaken, hunters are still a 1 shot kill with the pistol even on legendary.

uh, if it's a group of things, why is it a 1 shot kill. Like, say u were made up of worms, would u die if a worm in your back died??? i think not, yet the manuel says it. Like, really, u should have to kill every worm in it's body with this theory. And if any designers are reading, DON'T MAKE US DO THAT IN HALO 3!!!!!!!!!!

Anywho, don't double post.

And to reply, as said before, it's Science Fiction.
