To be honest sir the original xbox headsets are pretty poor too.

They were nothing special, but compared the the 360's they were definately better.

I've had two original xbox headsets break but my 360 one is fine. I tend to use the wireless one now however.

I've never had either the original or 360 comm/mic break/fail after years of use. Just don't rip it off your head and toss it in a corner when you're done using it. As far as the sound quality goes, I use it placed over another pair of light headphones so I won't disturb my wife, and can hear communications just fine even though it's held away from my ear on top of the other headphone.

I just bought my headset......now I forgot where I put it =/

I don't rip it off or anything, the first one that broke, was a little switch inside, that controlls the mute/unmute, it broke, but I took it apart, and actually had to cut away some plastic so that I can just flip the switch in side with my finger, so it works, but its torn apart so that it'll work. The 2nd one, the one that came with my camera, just quit working altogether, not sure why.

Also, its not so much the quality of the sound, as the volume in the headset, could be that that I'm going def. I have my own seperate room in our appartment then my wife, its a two bedroom, so until we have a kid, its my game/football/bar room.

I agree.....the 360 headsets are crap. I had the same problem with the volume when playing Halo 2, but it seemed tolerable with 360 games. I ended up buying a turtle beach earforce X2 headset. They're kinda expensive, but I do like them a lot. I believe they have a new model coming out (possibly earforce X3....not sure about the name). - Oh yeah...HERE they are.

edit - The only reason I haven't gone with the wireless is beause I have too much "noise" in my living room. From computers to cell phones, etc....everytime I move around or get a call on my cell....I can hear a lot of noise in the wireless headset...so do the other people in the lobby/game with me.
Also, when it's charging....people can hear me coming from a mile away. <-- This actually happens to a lot of people that don't know it.

Your to afraid to really be

Ive heard rumor that 360 head sets actually work better with 360 games. However I only play halo and dont know the truth to this statement.\

Oh and yes my 360 headset is junk

In my own opinion, yeah the 360 games I've played have a lot better sound quality than halo 2 does on the 360.

Yes the headsets are really bad. I have to cradle them so they don't break. Same with my 360, I have in on a raised grate and I clean it every week.

Also, is it just me or do controllers only last a month then get bad responses from the joysticks? I've been through 5 controllers and after a couple weeks of playing on one the right stick gets really loose and unresponsive.

The 360 equipment looks really nice but it's so fragile.....

  • 08.28.2007 12:54 PM PDT

microsoft in general are cheap bastards....

ever since the original Xbox did so well they have been cutting corners left right and center

for example, my original xbox i got in december 2002 lasted for 4-5 years before the dvd drive finally gave up, my 360 hasnt even lasted 2 months before having the same problems. Until Microsoft actually put money into making their -blam!- last longer it will always break in days or months after buying it.

also iceman, You must be over using or getting continuess bad controllers, my ones seem fine so far (except a few scratchs)

BEST HEADSET EVER

Seriously though, if you live with roommates or people that don't want to hear explosions and gun fire at all hours of the day i strongly recommend these. IMO they do a mush better job with souround sould than a true 5.1 system that cost 4times as much. I actally perfer using these over my $3000 5.1 system. - for games anyways. There are numerous adjustment that you can make allowing for a custom sound which is nice. Seriously, if you don't have 5.1 your missing a lot of the game.

Heres an example, Beaver Creek, inside the base. - you can hear the enemy footsteps and using your ears are able to tell which area of the base he is comming from. This makes for easy flag beat downs. No more guessing when he's going to come around the corner, you hear him comming. - jump- beatdown. then listen for the next guy. the mic works great too. Loud and clear.

If anyone has any question, PM me. they really are worth evey penny. best money i've spent on technology in a long time. In my opinion, upgrading from 2channels to 5.1channels is a more noticable change than upgrading your TV from SD to HD. (IMO). This is probably bias since i'm kind of an audiophile.

You guys are way to rough I think.

Seriously. I've had the same old 360 headset (that came with it) for 9 months.

I've got a wireless headset, but only use it for 360 games.

The Plantronics headsets are garbage! Since a few friends had their accounts on my 360 (before they got theirs) I bought a plantronics one for a buddy to use and it was absolutely horrible.

I've had some problems with the wireless headset that I only seem to have. Anyone else have theirs turn off while in the middle of talking? Fully charged and it just shuts off and makes me turn it on again.
