There are only a few people worldwide that are concidered as "pro". The most popular video game competetive body is Major League Gaming. MLG conciders any player whose team places within the top 16 in 4 vs 4 or top 16 in FFA as "pro". This cannot be confused with the championship bracket at MLG where the top 32 teams break off and start a new bracket on the last 2 days of the event. If your team places top 16 but stops going to events, you are a former pro not a current one. I know several of them, very few are worthy of respect because most are asses.

I'll bet most are asses. Most Halo players are asses, and almost all of the good ones are asses. Only makes sense that the best of the best are almost 100% asses.

But yeah, hardly any H2 players are pro. People come on these boards and say they're pro, they're not. Even if they have made money playing Halo, that does not make them pro. To be a professional at something, you earn your LIVING doing that thing - aka, for a Halo pro, they support themselves financially on their winnings at tournaments. Obviously, you have to be damn good to pull that off, to support yourself 100% by playing a video game.

Then there's the people who claim to be semi-pro. I'm not sure what they're trying to say, because technically there's no such thing, you're either pro or you're not. I think these are the people who win at neighborhood lan parties and like to brag about it.

Pros at anything are rare. In the sport of skateboarding, which has plenty of household names and massive, year-round tournaments with huge prizes, only like 2 dozen skaters are really actually pro skaters. I think the ratio applies pretty well to Halo 2.

Yeah I respect their "skills" and all but they all seem to be total deucebags to me. Thats the problem I have with so many people being like "MLG." Alot of the ones who say they are, arent. Then some of the ones that actually are, don't deserve any fame or anything like that. They just happened to be good at a video game, that shouldn't make someone regarded highly as a person, IMO. It could happen to anyone who plays video games and it gives these kids the idea that their larger than life. Its ok to respect their ability without worshiping them like alot of these teenagers do. Plus they all look and sound like the type of punk that I would have no problem with giving an attitude adjustment. I mean Ive seen a few of them give interviews on tv who werent too bad but they seemd like they were faking it anyway. Pretty much u gotta face it, that a large majority of people who play Halo are jerks and immature and that doesnt change just cause their "pro."

Thanks for backing me up, Rhythm. There is no such thing as semi-pro in Halo. Being a semi-pro is like being in the Minor League of baseball, you still get paid well for your performance, but you're not quite at the top yet, and its pretty tough to make a living that way. Halo has a pro level, but I know of no one who has a steady-but-small income from playing the game.

Exactly. You just said it yourself.

Your officially pro when place top 16 pro bracket. If you place top 32 pro bracket you are considered semi-pro. If you place top 16 then you don't have to fight your way through AM bracket every tournament. Also, MLG will give your team $1,000 per event towards travel expenses once your in top 16.

Most pros are asses to lesser skilled players and nutriders but to people who compete on there level there pretty cool.

You all are stupid. I am a semi pro. My gamertag is I am glass. Anyway. Firstly, you will normally get a Friend request from a person from Bungie or something like that. Secondly, you will play in online tuortoments. When you do well soon you will get sponsored. Then....wait hold on back up. When your a semi pro you pick one thing to compete in as a semi pro. Then (back to where we were) you will son have to become good in every game type. Then you must find real life tourtoments and go and enter and compete.

Miztik/Kevin pretty much answered the question.

You know you're pro if you place well at an event, or if you go to multiple events but can't quite make pro bracket (but you manage to get into the high rounds of the amatuer bracket) you might get semi pro "status."
