I just think that people need to stop whining. Halo 2 is what it is, and Halo CE was what it was. Compare it to the Marathon series. There is no middle ground, and I don't think that there was supposed to be. Bungie set out to make a totally different game, and they did that, admirably I may add. I believe that they polished, and improved almost every aspect of this great series, and I will continue to buy their products, and carry on their name.

GO BUNGIE! w00t! w00t!

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

I have mine on right now...

Halo1 is a tough act to follow

That's not the problem. A more appropriate saying, I think, would be "It's hard to beat first love."

Wow, I'm getting some nasty mail about this one. It seems most people think I "have my head up Bungie's ass," that I'm a "M$ PR whore," or some other unflattering obscenities.

My response is this: Some people simply dislike the game due to personal taste. These are not the people I'm referring to in my post. Everyone has the right to not like a game as long as they don''t go around saying how aweful it is. There are games I don't personally enjoy but acknowledge that they're excellent titles regardless. I'm unbiased that way.

The people I am referring to are the ones who dislike the game for the wrong reasons. I've said my piece, you know who you are. If this kind of thing hits so close to home, perhaps you need to rethink your stance on this. I can say with utmost ceretainty that if you hate something because it didn't give you exactly what you expected, that is not a valid opinion. That is selfishness and it is insulting to true fans and the people who made the game.

Bungie did not "mislead" you. They simply witheld all the facts in order to tell a better story. Is that really a bad thing?

You tell 'em Surge.

Bungie did something special with Halo 2. Halo's multiplayer was definitely a great experience in it's own right, but the seemingly original story, characters, and universe was alive to me in a way that no other fiction, with the exception of Starcraft, ever has been. I hated the Covenant. I loved killing them all.

Now, having played Halo 2, I feel bad every time I have to kill an Elite. I sympathize with the Elites, as well as the Grunts and Hunters. If you would have told me this on Nov. 7th, I would have beaten you to death with a crowbar or just shrugged you off as insane.

Ultimately though, Halo 2's theme just seems to be out of reach of the majority of the people who complain about the game.

I do not know why people have been complaining so much. I guess we just shouldnt raise the bar so much all the time. But, I LOVED the game! The style and gameplay seemed maybe a little different then Halo 1, but it was great. The storyline was so fun, I actually WANTED to get to the cut scenes! And what was wrong with the ending?! Seriously?! Ok, maybe the last level did not get your adrenaline pumping like The Maw, but The Maw was genius, best level I have ever seen in my entire life. Fighting Tartarus did not quite measure up to the Maw but very few games have ever had a level like that and it was fun. Oh and by the way I loved the final cut scenes. When MC got back to earth it gave me chills, I personally didnt think the cliffhanger was that excrutiatingly (is that how you spell it?) bad. The only things I can see wrong with it was every once in awhile an elite would get stuck behind a pillar or when you shot a rocket the animation of the explosion kind of messed up.
2 minor glitches that happen very rarely that I can think of? If I tried hard I might get to 3-4. And these things may end of being fixed on XBL. Oh! And speaking of XBL! I have NEVER had so much fun in my life (at least not with a video game). I will be playing it for at least a year to come. I mean damn, they nailed the multiplayer. But anyways. Id give the game a 9.7 and thats is good enough for me :)

BTW...Bungie+Microsoft own you...

My favourite part of Halo 2 was some of the spectacular vistas....Like on Delta Halo.

I could restate arguments, but it's rather pointless, trying to argue with those hypocrites who claim to hate Halo.

What annoys me is how people say the game suck. Maybe they don't like it but that's an entirely different thing. Intelligent people would say it's a great game just not my cup of tea. Despite this we have people ranting about how the game sucks. It is their opinion and they can by all means have it but keep it to themselves and not ruin the mood for everyone who likes the game.

Halo 1 put the bar up high for many people, too high infact. It couldn't be met no matter what Bungie would do. If they left something out someone would hate that, if they implemented it I'm pretty sure alot of the same people would complain about that as well. You can't keep everyone happy but to me Bungie has done a fine job on the game.

In my opinoin, Bungie is good, will be good, and will be around for years to come. They know how to throw a really good story line into a video game and make it great. The games Halo and Halo 2 were terrific, but Halo 2 did lack a certain finesse that makes the game awesome. Maybe it was because of my expectations and limitless possibilities I put on the game, and Bungie, that made it worse than I thought. Bungie will meet its maker, as will Halo2 when Citizen Zero is released next year. It will be awesome on live and everything else. If Bungie continually market games such as Halo 2, where expectations will be really high, then they will, in my opinion, lose that "thing" that made them great. Don't get me wrong, Bungie is still good, but just not great anymore. However, Bungie games, to me, have always had the best storylines over any other game I have ever played. The gameplays are always good, except Myth (the camera angles made me mad) and if they re-did the Myth series, to where you could produce troops and what not, then it would be really great.

I usually don't go on blasting people for their lack of judgement or whatever causes them to be such self-centred crybabies, because generally I don't care.

But I had to step in here because no matter how much you dislike one of their games, you do not insult a company that spent three years putting in 100+ hour work weeks due to your own selfish demands.

Surge, I tip my hat to you, good sir. You said on this thread what I've been trying to find the words to say.

If you were a girl, I'd marry you.

Anyhow, I loved Halo 2. The story (the main thing that drew me into Halo) was awesome, I loved playing as the Covenant and seeing their side of the story, and the little alliance with the Humans and Elites at the end blew me away. I have realized that Halo 2 is most likely going to be the middle installment of a trilogy, and everytime I see someone complaining about the ending it pisses me off...don't you realize that there's more to come?! It's like The Empire Strikes Back--when it first came out, a lot of people didn't like it because of its huge cliffhanger of an ending. Now, it's considered by many to be the best in the series. I feel that Halo 2 is just about the same thing.

And multiplayer--don't even get me started on that. It is the single most fun thing to do in a videogame, especially when you get more than eight people.

Also, I didn't know about Bungie until Halo, like a lot of the people here. However, I have wanted to see what some of their other games were like. I don't know where I can find Myth, I'm too lazy and computer inept to try and find a good copy of Marathon somewhere, and I don't really wanna spend money to get Oni, even though I could probably get it dirt cheap somewhere.

But I think that Bungie will continue to keep putting out awesome games, and Surge's post will convey that idea far better than mine will.
