"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."
Three mistakes? Are you crazy? JAF would be skating on thin ice.
Honestly, that's just horrible. To institute any sort of system that punishes you for making a few typos would be an atrocity. Anyone who might have any sort of problem with spelling and/or grammar, who might not have learned a particular grammar lesson, who might be trying to use words they hadn't used before, or were still trying to understand the enigma that is the English language because they were raised to speak a different language would be thrown out immediately. All those people who made good, well thought out posts would be banned because they had spelt "teh" rather than "the."
It's also incredibly unfair to those who spell badly, because it assumes that those who do so are a detriment to our forums. I've seen plenty of good threads and posts that are made by members who would have been permanently banned if any system similar to the one that you are proposing were put into place.
I, and many of the other members here, can read the majority of these threads and posts with ease, regardless of the spelling. It is only a tiny percentage of the total number of threads and posts with poor spelling and grammar that are actually unreadable, and even then the person doesn't need to be banned, since they realize that they are going to end up with a locked thread, some flames, and no proper responses. So any particularly bad posters would soon amend their habits in order to avoid such embarrassments.
