I already tried to send an email to the h2cheats@microsoft.com box but it didn't work, and i don't know who to send it to so I'll just post it up in the forums.

I'll be as brief as I can. My gamertag is "JackDVS"

Almost exactly a year ago i sold my xbox to a gamecrazy to get more money for a 360. About 4 1/4 months later I finally did buy one. Several days later I logged onto my xbox live account to find that this whole time it had been in use by someone else who had bought my used xbox, and since gamecrazy had not cleared the memory like they said they would, my gamertag was free for use by them, and I found that they loved to play Halo 2.

Within the next couple of days I was finally able to get them to realize the true owner of the gamertag had returned. However I realized from the messages that they were recieving from friends that they stand-byed and modded a lot, which I had never done in all the years I had my gamertag and played Halo 2. He also contacted me with another gamertag of his, "TK RED" but since he was on an original xbox and I didn't have my copy of Halo 2 we couldn't message one another, I could only read the first several words of each message he sent me, and it simply wouldn't even let me respond from the xbox 360 dashboard, but through a lot of evidence it became obvious what was going on.

A few months later, when I was able to finally find my own copy of the game, I attempted to log onto my profile and play some Halo 2, but it said my account had been permanently banned from Halo 2 matchmaking. Great. And I didn't even do any of the stuff.

Now I have finally decided to get around to contacting bungie about this (since Halo 3 is due soon) and I have been contacted by the modder who had possession of my account with a new gamertag, called "OoGoSuoO" and he now owns a 360 (which is why we're finally able to message one another) and apparently he had modded my whole xbox. I don't think he mods anymore or anything, just putting his name in so you know that I'm not making all of this up.

Now, it would be great to get my account unbanned from Halo 2 matchmaking, but I'm more worried about Halo 3. My account won't still be banned for that, will it? I don't want to be forced to pay for a whole new account on something I didn't even do, and I shouldn't be punished for because Gamecrazy messed up and didn't erase the memory like they said that they would.

It's just a really stupid and unlucky situation. And I'm mainly looking for people from bungie to read this, not too many others, but you can respond if you want to.

Also, the reason why i didn't clear the memoy myself was because I wasn't sure if gamecrazy was going to accept my xbox, and I didn't want to erase everything, and then not be able to sell it and come home with everything gone.

If there's a better place to put this or a good place to send it just tell me. Thanks.

I won this argument... in my mind.

You should have erased all of the memory, yourself.

I already said why I didn't though.

This is how it played out;

I didn't want to erase the memory because I didn't want to have to come back home with an empty xbox if they didn't take it. So when the guy said that they would buy it, I asked him if they were going to clear the memory for it, and his reply was "Always do!"

So if you were in that situation right there, where they guaranteed they would erase the memory (which makes sense) and you thought you might end up keeping the xbox anyways, would you delete everything? Probably not.

I'd go to game crazy and complain my ass off...but that is just me. I mean really, if they told you that they would erase the memory or your xbox, and then your gamertag that you paid good money for was banned as a result of them failing to do so, I would say they at least owe you a new xbox live subscription.

if they signed a paper saying they would erase your box and you have factual and complete evidence that they didnt, they are in the wrong.

Yeah, but going and complaining to them about it isn't going to do me any good, since it's already been said and done, it's not like they can personally get my account unbanned.

Who should I talk to about this or send a message to? I really want to get some answers from bungie themselves.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Bungie would tell you that erasing your GT from the system was your responsibility. If you didn't take the steps to insure that no one would steal your GT, then you should not be surprised that someone used it on your old xbox. You won't get any help from Bungie about this. I know that's kinda harsh, but its the way these things work. Your account is your own responsibility, and Bungie seems gets these kind of complaints literally every day.

You'll have to but another GT, or try to see if the retailer who you sold your xbox to can do something to help you get a new one for free. If I were you, I'd do some serious complaining to that retailer, or let go of the whole thing and get a new GT.

You can try to email the webmaster by sending one to webmaster@bungie.com, but I doubt anything will come from it. You could also try to call 1(800) 4MY-XBOX and see if they can do anything for you. Its another long shot, but you never know.

The h2cheats@microsoft.com address was disabled. That's why it didn't work.

I'm sorry that you had to go through this man. I know its frustrating. I guess we can all learn a lesson from your misfortune though. When it comes to personal info or GTs, don't trust anyone. Always make sure your bases are covered before you sell an old xbox or a 360.
