VERY good theory. It makes sense too. I doubt that the covenant would even land on earth if they didnt think there was an artifact down here. But, i have been thinking about the covenant crusier in New Mombasa. Maybe it's damaged and down for repairs? (as in the covenant have already established space supremacy). And they might as well repair it before the planet is glassed. That is why i think MC + cortana are trying to get on the ship. To try to buy more time...or something. (also, the covenant could have underestimated the human resitance, thats why they are "dropping" the elites to the surface. They probably thought they wouldnt need them and are trying to save there cruiser by any means possible. Or perhaps theres a prophet inside? Who knows?)

That would be tight, sneaking into the cruiser, taking out all these brutes protecting the prophet, then placing a plasma grenade on the prophet's huge fish-shaped head. =P

* Fight for what we have given you (we is reffering to the Forerunners)
* Never let our artifacts go forsaken or be destroyed

I dont think that the Covies KNOW that they're are forruner artifacts on earth BUT they now know in Halo 2 that we where on Halo AND that we had an artifact on reach. If you read first strike the covies find out that that guy who Dr. Halsey gave the artifact to , destroyed it, so the artifact was FORSAKEN AND DESTROYED.

I have a HUGE problem with your Covenant outline.

Firtst,
Through our time, we have peacefully inhabited numerous planets across our side of the galaxy.

WRONG. Every race within the Covenant has more or less been ASSIMILATED through FORCE. No doubt they all saw the benefits of joining such a conglomerate of alien species, but their expressed loathing of one another is proof they did not join very peacefully.

Second,
Live together peacefully with races of our own kind.
Respect each race as if it were to be your own.
Yah, um, if you actually READ the books, you know that every race considers those below them to be somehow lesser, and CLEARLY express that belief without restraint. There's also an over-ALL hate of all the OTHER species, regardless of rank or whatever - the Hunters are proof of that (read the Bestiary on the homepage). There is even a common loathing WITHIN certain species, especially the Elites! It's like the ODST's opinion of the SPARTAN program. They hate us, but still fight WITH us for one common goal - eradication of the -blam!--ass alien hordes.

I'm merely stating that the Covenant isn't exactly a peaceful, flawless alliance that you think it is.

I''d also like to declare half your storyline-theory LATE. I've already concocted HALF of your theory like a month ago, in a time when "New Mombasa" was just known to geography majors. It basically outlined the skepticism of the Covie's invasion, and that i originally thought they'd be after bhig tech on Earth, but then again they HATE our weapons, vehicles, etc. So they OBVIOUSLY want something beneath our feet.

Here's another Covie-angst theory i made a while ago. *CLICK*

The fact that you pinpointed New Mombasa is nontheless admirable, however. Good find, SPARTAN-00029.

The idea of Earth itself being a forerunner construct is a good theory, the external terrain on halo was very similar to Earth's. So maybe it's possible

iv just read your thread spartan021 and spartan029 there both good but id have to agree
with 021 theres more to it than just taking artifacts somthings happend or the Prophets know
somthing thay dont like. Like humans are ment to follow in the Foreruners foot steps or
maybe we destroy the Foreruners in the past think about just for a second
guiltyspark 343 said in the control room just after Cortana stoped them using the index
"last time you asked me and after having considable time thinking about my answer has not
changed there is no choice we must activate the ring"
which means he must have been there before and done it. I think halo is not just a weapon
but a place a sanctuary for races to survive the rings wipeing of the flood
But somthing happend maybe the Foreruners got wiped out before thay got to
safety of the ring
Well thats part of my theories a small part ill admit but i could go on forever lol

I purposely put that there SPARTAN 021. I know they all think they're better than one another. But do you see them having civil wars against one another? None-the-less, thank you for your comments.

An alternate theory strikes me. There is a theory of racial memory.
The humans seem to have an inate ability to opperate Covenante technology & the Covenant copy not create. If this ability stems back to previous forerunner contact with humans it would explain some of the animosity behind the covenant Holy war.
Look to the crusades. If you felt that invaders (crusaders) had taken the Holy land then (holy wars) where fought by the Muslims to recapture them. can be applyed to humans being intruders on Forerunner property. Hence Humans can be living on what Covenant see as Holy lands.
Just a thought.

Not a bad thought. You could expand upon that topic if you would like into a well thought up theory. Very nice.

I forgot who said it but if the rings are a sancuary for others to stay while the halos destroy all life, then maybe the ancestors of humans hid there. This explains what 343GS says, as a human reclaimer may have activated it before. Any thoughts?
