i like your idea, but i have one that applies to weapons and their usage. check this out:
i have this crazy idea for halo 3.
it takes dual wielding to new heights. here goes.
there wil be 3 types of weapons: dual-wieldable weapons, single wield (with grenades, and monowield guns (no grenades). for example:
* gauss gun: if there were a smaller version of it made (like 15mm), that is portable. the weapon would be EXTREMELY powerfull (a little less than the warthog turret) and the user would NOT be able to use grenades. the left trigger would be used to activate the gauss gun's gravitational-stabilizer. this would basically turn the gun into a turret, locked into relative position. if the gun were fired without this, the user's shields would be taken down about 1/2. if fired again, the user would have no shields. it has some sort of computer inside it that makes sure the user does not kill himself- it won't fire while the user's shields are down and the grav-stabilizer is not active. to prevent the stabilizer from being switched on-off and the weapon being too powerfull, the stabilizer takes about 1/3 sec. to boot up, but disengages instantly. 6x zoom.
other weapons that could be used like this:
* rocket launcher (maybe not...), L activates homing, rockets more powerfull, 5x zoom.
* minigun: 10mm chaingun, 55round magazine, L spins the barrels, R fires. takes a while to warm up to desired speed (2 sec), but overheats (slowly) with constant spinning.
* fuel rod cannon: like that of the hunters in halo 2, but overheats FAST. L activates containment beam- makes it shoot a ray like the hunters use in halo 2. without L, it fires blobs (like in halo PC), which are less powerfull. battery cartridges of 10, beam uses 2 at a time. rapid fire causes overheating. 2x zoom.
* Plasma cannon (like on the spectre). does not overheat, but requires battery cartridges. L trigger enables auto aim- a loose automatic aiming system that identifies targets and highlights them (thermals?), then "helps" the user aim, but only slightly. when the user hits L, a see-through window comes down from the tom of the weapon, and fits in front of your face. this would block your vision a little, but isn't that kind of power worth it?
these ultra powerfull weapons would be unavaliable for storage as a second weapon- the user would drop the weapon if he were to hit Y to switch weapons.
