im bored so im gonna start a thread about riddles...which is pretty obvious judging by the name of the thread O_o

Ok here is how it works. I am going to put up a riddle and the first person to solve it gets to put up a riddle and so on and so forth.

alright here it is: You wake up to find yourself in a room with two statues and a note between the statues. The note says that you can ask each statue 1 question about which door to use to escape the room. it also says tha one statue always lie and the other always tells the truth but you have no way of knowing which is which. you look up from the note and sure enough there are two doors. you continue reading and it says one door contains death and the other contains a way out. what question(s) do you ask?

Ultimately, both doors lead to the same fate. That thought is sure to rain on your old and very simple puzzle-related parade.

Hmm.. Let's see.

To statue A I would ask: "Which door is the way out?"
And for example's sake.. lets say it says "The one on the right."

To staue B I would ask: "Did the first statue just tell me the one on the right?"
If it was the one that lies: then it would most likely respond with: "No, it did not."

If it was the one that was telling the truth, It would respond: "Yes, it did."

Since the statue A DID just say "The one on right," I would decided which statue was telling the true based on the statue B's responce.

That's the universe's little way of telling you that you need to get out more :(

Or that you need to play more Halo 2.

This riddle is very common in just about any creative genre. Mostly literature. Funny, though, since I never really remember the responce to it... I think my answer is logical though.

Neither can I. I seem to have solved it three or four times and seen it solved at least once, but I've never been able to remember the answer.

I can see posts in every thread except for this one, up to ruze's post about his patience.

Edit: It's working now. That was weird.
