I realise help with linking gamertags has been asked for thousands of different times, but I'm still not able to get mine linked correctly, so I figured I'd have to ask in a brand new thread.

My Xbox Live Gamertag is exactly the same as my name here, Nubiam, but the email I use to sign in to each is slightly different. One of them is;
example@gmail.com
the other is;
example@googlemail.com
Theyre both the same email address.. but I was wondering is this why I can't link my Gamertag?

Also, When trying to log in to the Bungie.net website, here, I click the sign in button, and the first 7 or 8 times, it takes me to the account creation page, which I cant log in from, I have to click back, and then do it again, and again, until it actually takes me to the sign in page. Why, and how do I make it stop?

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Hrm, is your gamertag on an Xbox 360? Or an original Xbox?

As for your second problem, that is a bug in your cookies, if I am not mistaken. So delete your cookies as well as your temporary internet files, then try to login again, that should fix the problem.

Alright. Log-in to your Xbox Live Account through the Xbox 360. Then go to 'Account Management' and select 'Account Information'. You may be prompted to enter you password, if so, enter your Windows Live ID password. Then, in the next screen, you will see your email, select it, and you will be given the option to change the email. Change that email, do your Bungie.net Login email. Then, go back to 'Account Information', and select 'Contact Information'. Again, you may be promped to enter your password. You should see your email address here, select it, and change it to your Bungie.net Login email. Then, lastly, from the 'Account Management' page, select 'Windows Live ID'. This time, you will be prompted to enter your password. Enter it. Then, on the bottom right, you will see your email. Change it to your Bungie.net Login. Note, that it may take a few minutes for the site to update and for the changes to occur. Let me know if this fixes the issue. If not, then I will walk you through how to do it over Xbox.com, and I further look into the Account Management email preferences.

Under Account Management, I don't actually have an 'Account Informaton' button to select. I was able to change it in Contact Information though. Under Windows Live ID though.. I can't actually select the log in email address to change it. I can change the password associated with it, but not the email.

Whoops, I just checked, and I must have mixed doing it on Xbox.com and on Xbox Live. In any case, you did what you needed to do on the console. Now sign into your Xbox Live Account through Xbox.com and you should be forwarded to this page. Once there, then you select 'Billing and Contact Information', select and change your email there. Now, wait just a few minutes, and you should see your gamertag linked. If not, then post again, and I will look into this further.

Okay, I just messaged someone from about a month ago that I helped with this type of issue. So I have asked him to send me the messages that I sent him, since they worked. And since, I may be over looking one step in the process. Until then though, I think you're a bit out of luck, unless of course someone else that knows how comes in here. But rest assured, once I receive the messages, I will send the tutorial your way. Other than that, sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Thanks for the help either way! I didn't expect anyone to actually try and help to be honest.

Well, usually people here in the Septagon will try to help you as much as possible. The only times someone goes without help, is when either nobody is on that regularly comes to the Septagon, or if nobody has any idea what to say. Sometimes, a mixture of both, but hardly ever does this happen. And if it does, some usually drift back a few pages. In any case, I am always happy to help, so if you need anything further, just message me. As for the tutorials, I will send them your way once I receive them.

Let's say that Email 1 is what you use to sign into Windows Live (and bungie.net, as well), and Email 2 is the email you have in your Account Management on your console. If Email 1 and Email 2 are the same, that does not necessarily mean that your Gamertag is automatically attached to Email 1 (your Windows Live ID) on creation - the two email addresses could be totally different - but if you want to attach your Xbox Live account to Email 1 (again, your Windows Live ID) then you have to manually attach it via the page linked below, so that it's verified that the account holder is, in fact, you.

Try going to this page, and make sure that you're signed in with the same Windows Live ID credentials you're using to sign into bungie.net. You should then be able to go through the linking process, during which you'll need...

- Your Gamertag
- The name of the credit card holder on the account
- The last four digits of the credit card number
- The phone number and postal code associated with the account

When I visit the page you linked, I scroll down and select 'Log in.' From here, instead of an actual log in page as I expect to see, I'm shown this, which is an account creation page. So, okay, nothing for it, I'll enter my current Gamertag and see what happens. This happens. I click the link at the bottom saying 'Yes, this is my account. Sign in as Nubiam.' and finally I am brought to the correct log in page. Here, if I enter the email address I use to sign into Bungie.net, which ends '@googlemail,' It gives me this. If I enter the email i need to sign into the Gamertag account, which ends '@gmail.com,' then it lets me in, but nothing is linked, I'm back to square one, only now, I'm signed into Xbox.com. Woo.

When you attach your Gamertag to your Windows Live ID, you're also creating a Gamercard (looks like this), which shows up on some websites when you log into them with your Gamertag. For instance, your Gamercard will be displayed on your bungie.net profile after you've attached it (if you choose to display it - there is a "Hide Gamertag" option on bungie.net).

If you've signed into that page with the Windows Live credentials that you also use to sign into bungie.net, and you've already clicked "This is my account, proceed as Nubiam", you shouldn't be taken to another login page - you should be taken to a page with forms saying "Last 4 digits of credit card", "Name of credit card holder", etc. (It should look like this)

Strange.

EDIT: Fixed link.

I've tried this a dozen different times and I've never once seen that page.

Though i do have an 'Edit Gamercard' button. So i already have one of these.. ...things. But it's not linked to this account it seems, as it still says;

Welcome, Nubiam!
* Link your gamertag!
* Message Center
* My Groups

-
Edit: As far as I know, I have 2 different Live ID Accounts.
The first one was created when I subscribed to xbox live and created the gamertag in question.
A second one was created when I made an account here at Bungie. Was i supposed to use the same Live ID for both? I had meant to, gmail and googlemail are supposed to be the same.

The system doesn't automatically generate an email address when you enter it into your Account Management for the first time - it has to be a valid email address that you'd created beforehand on your computer.

It doesn't really matter whether you use the same email for both your Account Management and for your Windows Live sign-in, because the only way to attach your Gamertag to your Live ID is via the page I linked before. Entering the email address into the Account Management section won't automatically do that for you.

But if that's not working, I can't honestly say. You should be able to go to that page, click on the Sign In link at the top right-hand corner, and be able to login with the same info you use for bungie.net. If that doesn't work, though, I'm not really sure - that's the only website you can go to that has the ability to attach your Gamertag and your Live ID.
