K/D doesn't really mean much. If you're the grunt in team skirmish i.e the guy who's in the hill/carries the ball/etc. then you would have a low k/d.
It is helpful but not 100% reliable. If all you played was team skirmish, and all you played was KoH or Team Ball, then maybe. But if you k/d average for all gametypes is low you probably do suck. Very high k/d ratios are what's unreliable because someone may just play unranked games and never play enybody with legit skill.
Well for Team Slayer, maybe your the support guy that just hangs back and gets tons of assists giving everyone kills, he won't have a good k/d ratio. I have a high K/D ratio but it doesn't mean anything, It was well above 2.0 before I played H2 Challenge games, which brought it to 1.8. This is because in FFAs it doesn't matter if you go positive, as long as you have the most kills and win.
