Subject: Windows Live Help Please

Alright this is kind of confusing so here it is as simple as I can get it.
-My gamertag's windows live account is an email I don't use anymore
-When I try to sign on at windows live with the windows live account linked to my gamertag, I forgot my password. So I changed it over my 360. So I tried logging on with that, says that it is the wrong password, I try to then email myself the password through their service. It tells me that the account does not exist
-Why does my gamertag on the 360 have a windows live account, that their site says doesn't exist?
-I have a new windows live account which I can use

-How do I change my gamertag's windows live account from my old one to my new one?

-I wish Bungie kept with Apple and made an Apple console...

For reasons unknown, you are not allowed to change which windows live id your gamertag is associated with. "This is by design." That's what they said when I tried to change my gt. Pretty much, for a linked gt, you need the original Windows Live account (and gamertag) or a complete start-over on both. I know, it sucks.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Might I bring you a quote from Major Nelson:
I linked my Gamertag to Xbox.com using my .NET Passport, but since then, I've gotten a new account and a new Gamertag. How do I get my new 'tag linked, so I can access the My Livesection of Xbox.com?
—Messed up in Milwaukee

Dear Messed,
It's a kind of back-ass-wards way to do it, but nevertheless, there is a way to make it happen. Since you can't unlink a Gamertag from a .NET Passport, you need to link the Gamertag to a different .NET Passport:

* Create a new .NET Passport account. Just use some Hotmail throwaway e-mail.
* Link the old Gamertag to the new .NET Passport account. This frees up the link from the old Gamertag to the old .NET Passport.
* Link your new Gamertag to your old .NET Passport account.

*Note, that I figured this mess out once before, yet I did sadly forget the steps needed to do this. So, you may have to wait for someone to answer your question, or until I can contact the guy I helped again.

That's the exact help page I found through. That's been outdated probably since the release of the 360. I did want my old gt linked to a new passport.net account, (that's a required step in that procedure), but I was told by the Xbox.com staff that you can no longer change which Live ID your gamertag is liked to. "This is by design." This was about 6 months ago. I think that quote is quite a bit older.

Try changing your password back using your Xbox 360, if that doesnt work make a new live ID.

I don't think you guys understand so I will try to explain it better.
My Windows Live account on my gamertag, on my 360 is lets say A, cause I really don't want to start blabbing my account email.
The password for this account is B.
So I try to log on, through Windows Live on the computer. I use username A, and password B.
Password does not work.
I change B password THROUGH the 360, so I KNOW its correct. And I know the email is correct cause it says what it is on my gamertag.
I change B password to C passoword, now I know I have the correct password, since it was just changed.
I try C password on the computer, and it says I either have the wrong account typed in or password.
I do whats my password thing, I type in A account.
It tells me A account does not exist!
Why does the 360 say it is linked to A account with C password, when Windows Live online says that account does not exist! I know I have the spelling right!

Oh and I really don't want to try the phone help line, they suck!
One time when I tried canceling my gamertag this guy sat there arguing that I shouldn't and gave me 5 minutes of reasons why I shouldn't cancel.
I will if I have to, but that will be my last step before I have to call them up and curse them out, this crap pisses me off, nothing should take this long to figure out, I hate Microsoft. Bungie should have kept with Apple and they should have made a console.

I have a new Windows Live ID, its called the one I am using right now with my Bungie account. The issue that I am having is not being able to change the Live ID from my old one to my new one on my 360. I want to link my gamertag but I cannot! I really want to take advantage of those awesome things you can do with Halo 3 when you have a linked gamertag.

And I don't feel lke making a entire new Account just to use the new Halo 3 services once they come available. But I know I will be missing out on some good stuff. any help would be appreciated. The email I have I forgotten the password and they wont send me it to my new email.
