Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

For reasons unknown, you are not allowed to change which windows live id your gamertag is associated with. "This is by design." That's what they said when I tried to change my gt. Pretty much, for a linked gt, you need the original Windows Live account (and gamertag) or a complete start-over on both. I know, it sucks.
Might I bring you a quote from Major Nelson:
I linked my Gamertag to Xbox.com using my .NET Passport, but since then, I've gotten a new account and a new Gamertag. How do I get my new 'tag linked, so I can access the My Livesection of Xbox.com?

Dear Messed,
It's a kind of back-ass-wards way to do it, but nevertheless, there is a way to make it happen. Since you can't unlink a Gamertag from a .NET Passport, you need to link the Gamertag to a different .NET Passport:
* Create a new .NET Passport account. Just use some Hotmail throwaway e-mail.
* Link the old Gamertag to the new .NET Passport account. This frees up the link from the old Gamertag to the old .NET Passport.
* Link your new Gamertag to your old .NET Passport account.
*Note, that I figured this mess out once before, yet I did sadly forget the steps needed to do this. So, you may have to wait for someone to answer your question, or until I can contact the guy I helped again.
