I notice the same thing. It's annoying as hell. But it is just lag and luck. The guns don't exactly shoot straight, so that they are realistic. Also, because of lag, your own shots may not register, but theirs do. It happens, you just gotta live with it.

With the BR it could be lag, I've seen this problem a good deal myself. With the magnums, it's just the fact that the magnums have terrible accuracy. If you empty both guns into his upper head/back area and it doesn't kill him, yet he turns around and shoots once to kill you, I would call it luck. (I'll get flamed for using the "L" word, but it's the truth. When it comes to a weapon with crappy accuracy, luck is a large factor.)

This "problem" doesn't particularly pertain to just Swat. It happens to the entirety of Halo 2 online. It's usually has to do with lag and/or latency caused by a bad or mediocre host. Also you must remember that every interaction between two or more characters over xbl must first register with the host before the action can actually happen. Although it may seem that you shot first your enemies shot registered before yours resulting in your death.

Quite true. People just notice it more in SWAT because you only need one shot, where as in other games, you pretty much expect to miss a few.

For him, though, it may just be that he tends to play more SWAT than anything else.

You just have to learn to play offhost BR. Such as you have to play as if you're a split second behind everyone. Start BRing at the wall when you're behind cover before you step out for example.

This is a common problem in any game played over the internet, and it is most evident in FPS games, where milliseconds really matter. Like someone said, this happens in all games, not just SWAT, but it is where it is most visible and has the greatest effect. There really isn't anything you can do about it, configuring your connection or changing minute game options is impossible on an Xbox.

On Counter-Strike, the problem of shots not registering is known simply as "reg", and it is a major part of competitive CS to lower your "reg" so that you might have the advantage of a few milliseconds on your opponents. Of course, CS sports an in-game console with a multitude of game diagnostic tools and options, so tweaking one's connection is easier to do. It has something to do with setting "rates" to the ideal number, not too high, not too low. I of course am clueless after this point, and in fact I digress very much here. In short, there's nothing you can do, except hope for a better connection, dedicate your network to Halo 2 only, all that jazz.

That's really not much of an issue. It happens usually when someone is running and comes around a corner. We pretty much see each other at the same time. So I shoot first, and in a split second I hear his gun go off after and I drop to the floor. I'm not complaining about dying and as you guy's pointed out it must be host advantage and lag but still he should die too. Otherwise where the hell did my bullets go? I'd love to see what actually happened on the other guy's screen...

We know your not complaining about dying. It's just such a common problem. I can't really say what happens to your bullets other than they just "disappear" or they made contact with the intended target but had no effect on him/her

Man, it sucks to be you guys. I always get my kills, and I can smell an enemy.

It is a talent of a very few gifted citizens, only of America though.

I had the same problems. I just stopped playing SWAT. I play BTB and pray for BR spawn games, or I play Team Hardcore where you ONLY have BR spawns. It's just more fun that way for me.

I always thought that it would be nice if BOTH people's shots in SWAT registered, because after you die, your bullets just seam to disappear.
