[color=red] one downfall [/color] of this whole thing that may make [color=blue] bungie [/color] reject it is....you need to be holding a weapon to first put it somewhere (store in locker) so once you store it, your now down to one weapon?

If bungie would allow someone to carry 1 or no weapons, I don't see a problem with it. Imagine playing blood gultch in Halo2 or one like it and you have sniper and pistol and you drive up to rocket throw down snipes, pick up RL and put it in locker then pick up snipes really quick and be on your way...hmm...I dont know...

Maybe it would be benifical to those needing back up, you cruise up in hog so ally can take out sniper...but then why wouldnt you just use snipes once you get there?

really, it would only be useful in campaign. only in campaign am i ever wondering if i should keep the rocket launcher or not

i rmeber ash555 (or ash something..) posted this in another forum, and i really liked the idea. like, ALOT!! so, this is ashs idea:

when you start up halo2 on xbox live for the first time, you choose your account and then it says "choose character:elite spartan. you choose either the elite or the spartan..now since alota people wanna try out both, you dont haveta keep being an elite or spartan. but bungie sets up a main server, always running, always "Sticked" of the sort on top of the server list. now, every time you join this server, you are automatically what you chose: elite or spartan. but then you can change that as you go into diffrent servers.

now, this bungie server will be one of the games to utilize xbox lives tournament features. it will be a constant running tournament, that ends every once in a while. elite vs spartan, 24/7. it wont be an hour or 30 minute tournament...maybe short games, but the scoring system will be set to end every once every other week. its sorta like counter-strike:each time spartans or elites win a round, they get a point added to their teams score. so instead of 3 captures and the game is over, itll be 3 captures and the round is over. you following?

and bungie, meanwhile, sets the time for each tourney type thing accoriding to how theyere doing in devlepment, and heres why. once a team (spartan or elite) win the entire game not just a round, bungie releases downloadable content according to which side won. for example, lets say they have secret vehicles, some designed by covenant some designed by human. if spartans win, they release the human vec. if elites win, they release the covenant vec.

thats ashes idea, but i just added more detail and stuff.

and about the weapon locker..when you look at it, can you go up to it and look down? and then if there are two weapons, a crappy one and a rocket launcher, will you haveta take whichever is avalible for pressing x?

On the weapon storage idea - I really like the idea with the Pelicans. You guys also have to reconsider how absolutely HUGE this game is going to be. (5 times larger than Halo 1...it's in the Brits' magazine article) If you are stranded with, lets say, a spent Plasma Pistol or an SMG with no ammo left and driving around, it would be good to have a backup weapon close by. It should only be one weapon though, and with limited ammo....like a shotgun in a cop car. Or, you could just keep a weapon in the glovebox along with Master Chief's Hog registration papers:)

i agree with the only one weapon and limited ammo that would get rid of the choosing problem addersed by thestealthcow. also i wouldnt think that it would be that hard to make it so that MC only has on weapon i think that in the e3 mp demo he had 3 weapons though maybe i missed it but this is the second one with the gernade that he uses and the binoculars he demonstrated the duel wielding then throws the needler and then swaps the smg for the sword then he switches to the battle rifel. maybe i missed a pickup or something but i would thinkt that if they could have him carry 3 weapons they would have no problem having him carry just on.

now im curious in an earlier post i said that the mc could hold more weaponsbut im not sure. in the e3 mp demo i think he was holding 3 weapons. could someone please prove me wrong/right.

[color=blue]That is what the Brutes' gun is for. It has the huge blade on the bottom for melee attacks. I do hope that the humans get some bayonettes too tho.[/color]

If the MC is a cyborg, should it not be S.O.P. to have at least one built in retractable forearm weapon like a vibro-sword or a Sentinnal Laser Weapon?

Ok i have a situation

A really good sniper is picking off the enemy but he is running out of ammo so u drive up with a sniper in the locker and give him some ammo. Or if you were packing a sniper and a rocket launcher pull a shotgun out of the locker and replace it with one of the other guns

about the 3 weapons thing. ITs still only 2 he spawned with a SMG and a BR he the picked up a needler to dual wield with the SMG the guys said if he wanted to throw a gernade, switch guns, or meele he would have to drop the dual wielded gun. So he dropped the needler and the SMG to pick up the plasma sword. therefore he only had the BR and the Plasma sword.

i wpuld be sweet if... the lockers were like the compartments in the first halo 2 announcement trailer. The ones that come out of the wall and gives him the BR that would be bad to pick it off the rack then close the door. Also if someone left the door open maybe it would give a sniper a clear shot at the gas tank that would be also cool

good situation i hate when i run out of ammo while picking people off. an ammo transport ok here is one situation your fellow fighters are pinned down by a wrath so you drive up and someone takes the rocket out of the storage and you drive toward it for distraction.

ok just up make sure at one point he was holding 3 weapons correct? smg/needeler, dual, and the battel rifle. but i still think that it would be easy to only make the MC hold one weapon.

it would be sweet if...im positive this has bee said before but if the MC could put away both weapons and just use his hands to punch or to choke out an enemy like on the matrix game. just sneek up behind them and put them in a choke hold then snap their necks, if they do have necks to snap. i also think that idea would be better if you could use a combat knife (suggested already by someone in this post, props to you great idea) and slit their throat or stab them in the back.

About having 3 guns or 1 gun is not difficult Bungie just has to allow it because in the first level you start with no guns, (which is awesome, should beable to punch with no gun) and then you are spose to get the pistol first by Captian Keys. After he sais "I don't keep it loaded you'll have to find ammo as you go." Right after than you run out as fast as you can so that you don't get the checkpoint that gives you the pistol or pistol ammo. You'll notice the grunts that are usually there are not. You go out and get two guns run back to where Keys is and run back out. Now you'll get the checkpoint which will give you your third weapon the pistol added to the 2 weapons you picked up now when you push "Y" you cycle threw 3 guns that can be dropped and replaced with any guns besides the ones your holding.

Anyways what I'm saying is its easy to have 0-3 weapons, Bungie just has to allow it.

Now for my it would be sweet if

It would be sweet if you could throw your weapons on the ground and punch people with your fists. Did you ever notice how you melee in Halo 1 with the plazma pistol you swing your fist and that does the dammage that any other melee does so why not have it when you don't have any weapons you can go out boxing. I personally want to beable to melee with out a gun in halo 2 because I'm not so sure I'm liking the so called pistol equivelant the SMG. I definatley want to beable to throw down guns where ever I stand or spawn to get rid of the huge Assault Rifle looking, so called pistol equivlant, the SMG. Then start smoking (meleeing) people to death in anger of having to touch such a weapon.

My beef with the SMG is that its suppose to be a pistol and its almost bigger than the Battle Rifle. Pistols are suppose to be small and cool looking, In MY opinion the SMG does not look cool.

About the 3 weapons thing, it's already been declared in other threads and studied, probably too much, by fans, he never holds 3 guns. He switches out what he has very quickly, and you will most likely never hold 3 weapons, Halo started the whole 2 weapon concept and it's awesome. You can also hold just one weapon, because many levels in MP on Halo start you off with just one.

As far as the storage in the hog, I think it'd be cool if it were only on the transport hog, but they START with guns in the storage bins. This way, the transport hog gets a little balance cause it doesnt have a gun, but you'd still wanna get to it and use it cause it's holding weapons, and you could set what weapons start in the hogs before the MP games, like you set up weapon sets now...just a thought

now im positive that he has 3 guns at one time if you watch the e3 MP demo he starts with the smg(1). then he demos the duel wielding by picking up the needler(2). he shoots Max with them and kills him Max drops the sword and the battle rifle. the person still duel wielding walks over the battle rifle and it disapears it says "picked up some battel rifle ammo". so right there he has 3 guns. the needler and smg duel wielding and the battel rifle.
then he throws down the smg and the needler and pick up the sword "i'll save this for later" and then switched to the battle rifle which he has had all along. i think that it may be that you can hold 2 and have one handy.

Wow, you're right. I read that forum I mentioned and they said he only had 2, but I watched the direct feed and went frame by frame, he picks up BR ammo while still holding the needler AND SMG, THEN it says press X to swap for sword...so as far as the demo goes he could hold 3....I kinda hope they keep it at 2 though, ah well

From what I last read, you can carry three when you're using two. You can't carry two in backup.
I'm supposed to be posting ideas that I think would be cool, so:

I was thinking of a different storage idea with vehicles. The vehicles have unlimited ammo. Covenant seem to be able to recharge plasma weapons with covenant vehicles. Why not have vehicles be able to replenish ammo for specific types of weapons? Some covenant vehicles and turrets would refill plasma weapons, others would refill a different kind of covenant ammo, perhaps that which the new sniper weapon uses. Some human vehicle would have a bottomless box of clips for whatever human weapon the designers thought would go best with it, other human vehicles would have ammo for different weapons. Since the atv supposedly lets the driver use one single-hander weapon, it could provide infinite ammo for one such weapon... Do grenades count? If vehicles are destructible and can provide ammo, you get more decisions to make. Do I use the vehicle to run people over, or protect it so I can use it for ammo?

I would like to be able to use grenades from the atv when a small enough gun isn't available.(or when you put it away to throw grenades)
I would also like to be able to start a melee combo at the end of a sprint. It would be really cool to be able to charge up to something and start beating it.
Volatile grenades would probably go well with the volatile vehicles and vent cores: drop grenades without activating them, then detonate them remotely with a sniper rifle. To keep from getting your own grenades blown up in your face, just have the really rapid-firing guns not detonate them with one hit- the bullets from an smg are smaller, maybe they'll just knock your frag off course. It would also add even more decisions! You could leave a frag or two in a tempting, volatile vehicle and wait with your sniper rifle for someone to try to climb in the passenger side with your flag...

i like the idea about the ammo in the vehicle but maybe not unlimited that may be a little unfair.
i also wonder if you can throw nades off the atv that would have some comical results or another way of getting places your not sposta be, throw a nade in front of you and just drive over it, boom, weeeeee
maybe the gernades would be better if it were a specific kind not all gernades cause then some maps would become giant explosions. and maybe only the sniper would set them off.
