Halo 2 Vista has a Runtime Error before starting up. It might need a reinstall, but has anyone had this issue and found a fix that didn't involve reinstalling?

I tried Google, but no one seems to be having this issue.

Hmm Never heard of it. Sounds like a reinstall is a the best Idea.

Have you installed anything else recently? Checked to see if there was a program interfering with Halo 2?

I don't think there's a conflict. I ran a selective startup, same result. Rebooting usually fixes the problem but not this time.

Have you put any new software on your rig or deleted any? I haven't encountered the problem either but know from past expierence that either installing or uninstalling software can have an effect. The only remedy for your problem I can think of is either a new install or you remember if you've changed your configeration in some way and you can change it back. As I'm sure your quite aware, System Restore can sometimes help in this situation especially as you said the game was working a few days ago.

Gaming Systems:
Intel Core i7 720QM (4 cores, 8 threads)
4Gb DDR3-1333mhz
1Gb AMD Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit

Xbox 360 w/ 20Gb HDD (2008 edition) & XBL Gold.

lol only time i've had an error is when Halo 2 tried to start up on my old Laptop, which i recently installed Vista on as part of a sweeping upgrade. That Laptop is old and was mid-low end when i bought it. It only gets a "1! score on the Windex benchmark :P. My CPU gets a 3.4, my RAM gets a 4.1 and my Hard Drive gets a 4.3. Shame my Graphics gets a 1.9 for Windows performance and 1.0 for gaming, lol. As you can, it's a pretty good card, lol :P

As for your error, i've been running on a system with just-above min requirements fine. Bit slow performance at times, but that's just because of the slow Shader Model 2.0 performance i bet. Never had the error myself. Just reinstall it.

Reinstall doesn't work. I did it twice, same errors.

Well could you tell us something more about your computer and the error? Did it say anything else?
