Here's how it happened...

I used to play Halo 2 on a regular Xbox with Live. I used to be a high level and everything. Then the 360 came out and I got that. I tried playing my Halo 2 disc on the new 360 and it worked. I played on this setup until my first 360 encountered the 3 rings of death. So, I got a free replacement 360 because of the ring of death. I then tried playing Halo 2 on Live with the new replacement 360 and the first thing I recieved when I logged onto my account was that my downloaded content( all the new maps) was damaged or un-usable. So, I called 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and talked to experts 2 times in a row. Of course, they didn't know how to fix it.

Summary of Story: My new replacement 360 that I got for free (my first 360 experienced the ring of death) will not let me play matchmaking/Xbox Live on Halo 2.

I have not seen any answers to this problem. I posted this to see if any one else has experienced this situation/circumstance.

Any ideas or answers on how I could fix this?

The experts on 1-800 number told me to do that 2 times and I did it 2 times and still didn't work. Good advice though.

Delete all maps and redownload FTW.

The maps are console specific. Delete all the map packs from the HD. Clear the HD memory cache and redownload them. It should work.

I also did those exact same steps 2 times. I deleted them off my hard drive, then I cleared my cache by doing the button combination, then redownloaded. Still didn't work. Thanks for the idea though. I'm still looking for an answer before I have to e-mail microsoft and explain to them what sad problem they cannot fix.

This is most likely a personal problem with your core console. I did what these guys did and it worked. I don't think anyone can help you. Not to sound like a debbie downer of anything. Just saying..

Please don't take this personally... Are you saying I might need to either get a different hard drive or a completely new 360, because that's the only options that I've been thinking of also. I'm just going to email microsoft and discuss this with them. Mods, you can just close this if you wan't. Thank you all who gave good advice and answers.

I've tried that also, I've tried every idea/answer that is out there. Thank you though for the advice.
