I'm considering changing my gamertag (keeping the same account, mind you), but I was wondering if that effects the linkage to my Windows Live account. I'm not making a new Xbox Live account, just changing the name on the existing one. Any ideas?

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

Eventually, as the data transfers, your linked Windows ID tag will change as well.

I just changed by gamertag a few days ago. Its very easy. All the xbox.com stuff updated almost immediately, and the bungie.net site updated a few hours later. Its a smooth system, don't worry about it, from my experience. It doesn't affect your live account other than changing the name of the attached gamertag, of course.

Quite true. I change mine about a month ago. I had the same tag since 2004, but I was tired of. When i changed it, the only thing that changed was my name. I can still go back and view my first played Halo 2 game, but it'll say 'Duard0' instead of 'St ignatius'
