In the first Halo, all you had to do to pick up a gun was to be about 3 feet near it and tap the button. Now, im Halo 2, you have to be standing exactly on top of it, and HOLD the button, so it feels like lag. That little adjustment changed the way I had to strategize to play Halo, and I think they are big arses for doing this. Its just such a frustrating pain. Not to mention that if your in a high traffic area, where there are 15 guns of all types splatterred about, your guaranteed to get killed before you can hold down that button long enough to pick up the right weapon. So yea, that weapon 'lag' blows hard.
