If you have 2 gigs of RAM and a Dual-Core(Which every gamer should have,) then the only problem with Vista is "User Account Control."

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Wrong.

I have 1535mb RAM and my VALVe, Microsoft, and other, insignificant game turn out just plain fine.

While you may manage to scrape by with 1.5 gigs, it would be a wise idea to reccomment 2+ gigs now adays for either XP or Vista systems. Games and applications now a days use a lot of memory. Take supreme commander for example (http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3034&p=4) can use 1.4 GB of ram all by itself and in fact may crash 32 bit systems because it uses too much memory. Another good example is photoshop and working with any large image such as a picture it can easily use 1 GB+.

My damned computer came with Windows Vista and can't do anything about it. I can't play most games (such as Second Life) because of damn Vista. I deal with it.

Obviously because this is a new account, I can't create a thread untill tomorrow so, would anyone like to play Halo CE right now? I'm so bored, I can't use the Internet option for some reason and can only join LAN games (So an IP address is needed).

It says something about not having administrator privileges or something; any help for that?

THE CAKE WAS NOT A LIE fireangel115.deviantart.com

I may use just XP, but i run games like half life 2 and Unreal tournament just fine with 1g of ram a 2.4ghz pentium 4 and a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI.

P.S. PEOPLE GIVE ME SOME GAMES I CAN FIND FOR MY PC!!!

thank you.

I don't understand why everyone says Vista is total bull-blam!-. I think that it's way better than XP. Vista somehow allows HDR in the games and maps that allow it, the video graphics are way better, and I think that Windows XP was getting old. Some of you haven't been using XP since the first day they came out, I will eventually getting used to Vista, and will continue to move on like everyone should.

I also hate the fact that everyone keeps blasting it without admitting that they have never used or tried it. After testing Vista, I am not going back. I may dual boot with XP, but I have to admit that vista is pretty expensive.

The point of all this was that, don't say that vista sucks if you haven't tried it, or at least speculate some real-time arguments that are reaslistic other than "my computer crashes". I have been using vista for 2-3 months and my computer has never crashed, I get way better graphical results than XP, which is what I was aiming for, but it uses a lot of ressources.

If your computer is simply to surf the internet you use microsoft word, I personally think that vista is not for you. You are going to waste more money than time.

The people that say Vista rocks also have another problem... they all bought it, with little to no testing. Whoever BOUGHT it is going to get used to it... that's a matter of fact. Those who have tested it for a relatively short amount of time are the only ones that have a truly subjective view.

The point being, it shouldn't matter to anyone wether it does or not. Try it, if you like it buy it. The elitist XP guys like me will make fun of them, and the Vista guys will have the last laugh perhaps when we have to format our hard drive for when a decent Vista only game comes out.

I dont understand why everyone says wait for sp1 as if it's going to include some amazing fix for some problem that I do not know of despite the fact that i have been using it since before it came out.
There is nothing wrong with vista.

Eh I'd avoid Vista untill service pack two and stick to XP (professional I have media now and it doesn't work very well) Also Vista runs slower with 4 gig of memory then xp runs with 2. It just matters what games mean more to you. Halo 2 or every other game you own

eh not really, vista runs fine on my machine with 2 gigs of ram. it runs just like XP did.
runs almost fine with 1 gig...

Just FYI, I have seen no problems with Vista so far, save for the inability to use DaemonToolz. My girlfriend plays WoW on her 1GB Vista laptop, and it runs just as well on a higher resolution than on my 1GB XP desktop. Vista nay-sayers are just pissed cause they don't wanna fork over the cash for a new (and as far as I've seen, superior) OS.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I must not be a gamer if I havent had issues with vista. :S

Same here. I haven't had issues and I've been using it since a little before Beta 2.

Specs: P4 3.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, Geforce 6800GS/XT, and a SATA HDD.

I gave up on XP after a while since Vista could do everything I wanted it to.(I have Ultimate, so I didn't need my XP MCE)

Oh, by the way, my games run fine on those specs.

Don't oversell yoursefl on the fact that you need 2+ gigs of ram if all you are going to be playing are old games like halo pc. That being said it is sure nice to have 2 and would be even nicer to have more.
