I was bored today and while my internet was down i started playing Unreal tournament, which was somehow already on my computer? i have no idea how it got there. ANYWAY, i played a bit and my first impression was this

"This is just like Quake, too fast and jumpy like all the characters are a bunch of psychotic insane asylum escapees hyped up on red bull and carrying around guns made out of blenders so when you shoot, you shoot more blenders and on impact with your enemy he turns into a pool of blood and organs."

And then i thought, "This sucks, why isn't this more like halo? I'm going to go play halo...."

Now, such gratuitous violence is smiled upon, don't get me wrong. They just don't do it right. I think it'll be a few more years before games get that aspect down right. All you see today is the enemy explode into giblets, (completely missing the mark). Or the game doesn't even attempt the gore luvin, halo I salute you. I think you guys at bungie could really do some nice effects of place damage and armor burning, scraping, and getting-blown-off-by-shotgunning. But now isn't that time. But mark my words, the day will come when complete detail and realism will be expected from all games.

Moving on, i thought the game was boring and repetitive, i enjoyed the assault games and am glad to see Halo 2 will have them. (As seen in this years E3). Rather than comment on all the things that Unreal doesn't have that it should, i'll just say all the things about Unreal that should be in Halo.

I like how it goes killing spree, rampage, unstoppable, godlike, or something like that, it should go on and on. But nothing beats Killtaculars.

BOTS! they suck in Unreal but their better than nothing. Halo could make them shine.

That feign death thing is kinda cool too, i tried that out online. adds a stealth factor. And hey it's kinda cool to go up and blast a dead body on the ground only to find out it was someone trying to be sneaky. Sucks to be them. I wouldn't want to see it in Halo though.

I dunno the game just sucks, thats another thing, everyone keps sayin that there will be these "halo killers". Well sorry Doom 3, Killzone, and YA THATS RIGHT HALF LIFE 2 it's just not going to happen, even with better graphics, AI and who knows what else, you can't beat the classic gameplay of Halo. I'm convinced that the original Halo would PWN all of these games together had it come out instead of Halo 2.

I can't seem to sleep. Images keep haunting me, even in the shadows where I normally feel safe. I've got lots to get outta my system, perhaps more than I can process in a whole week...

This thread got NO replies, so I'll change that.
I like Halo for the way you feel in control. The weapons feel like they're real weapons. Between Halo's meaty weapons and regenerating shields, you can nail someone without taking any health loss if you see 'em first, instead of being forced to take permanent damage no matter how much quicker you were because it takes forever to kill... If you do well, you maintain perfect health and you don't have to worry about running out of powerup. The game's fast and frantic, but you move slowly enough for lots of cool tactics to emerge. Level design feels geared toward offering lots of interesting subtleties to explore 'N exploit, instead of leading people back and forth between the same open space and cramped corridor to keep it too frantic to think. I also like the way the game lets you develop your style. You've gotta decide whether you wanna pick up that rocket launcher or keep your trusty main weapon. There's only two things I can think of that I would like different. I woulda liked more grenades and less powerups. Being able to choose from several different flavours of grenades as well as guns would have been sweeeet. You never know, that might go into Halo 2... but that's for another forum.
