The fact that you called Microsoft "M$" leaves me to think you're non-too bright.

Like Steve said, you are aware you can just unhook the hard drive and put the other one on, correct?

It's not like there's really anything important on the Halo 3 Edition Hard drive.

New Gamerpics are on the HD. Not to mention it has a special paint color (the orange thing), look at it closely. So it is kind of dumb.

Yeah that would look terrible. And i use M$ out of habit, it's short and I really don't care to put MS. It's used widely enough where I don't see it as measuring my intelligence or as a bad thing.

Why would i buy a halo 3 edition just to see the friggin thing look retarded? I'm going to cancel it and get an elite with 65nm down the road if they don't come up with a solution. I really don't see the need for you to attempt to insult anyone's intelligence but I think M$ needs to address this.

Hopefully I don't have any miss-spelling you could point out.

You also know all you live content is registered to a specific console and can't be played unless it's attached to that console. Otherwise you could just hack copies and distribute.

They need a transfer kit. I'm not attaching my old drive for saves. It would look awful. Besides i'm buying this because i'm a fanboy and for style c'mon.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

He was referring to the fact that you called Microsoft tech support, not your choice of abbreviation. Most people have never tried what you're talking about, I would assume, so, (like me), they wonder why you couldn't just use the old HDD. Now that you've addressed that, I'm wondering how using a memory card to transfer files will help, since the content would still be registered to the old Xbox, wouldn't it?

Edit: After talking to someone who owns a 360, they say that as far as XBL content goes, you should just re-download everything that you bought. The content is linked to the XBL account, not the box.

You can transfer you saves, but I don't think many xbl arcades or downloads will work. And you'll have to get on the phone with support to try and work out the issue to download them to your new box, and still try and retain the save (like my maxed out castlevania SOTN save). It's a huge pain without a transfer kit (currently which only goes from 20 to 120). If enough people shriek or if maybe someone important from bungie nudges the right guy we might get a 20 to 20 gig transfer kit. So i'm hoping.

But you'd still need to buy a 40 dollar memory unit to get your saves. Which i'm not going to do. otherwise I'd have to start all over again in some games and with achievements in all it's just not worth it.

I think this is something they should address. And not the consumer who's buying his 2nd box have to cat mouse with.

Hey guys. Bungie we need you to make some noise, basically if you own a premium currently and you buy a Halo 3 edition you're screwing yourself... There is no way to transfer data beside saves from a memory card, and you'll have to migrate your profile so you'll basically null out access to your saves upon signing on the new console (unless you keep you old one offline and migrate saves from a memory unit) But even then you can't transfer your xbl arcade downloads or xbl content on games like oblivion.

Somebody needs to make some noise to get a 20 gig to 20 gig transfer kit. Right now it only works 20 to 120. So basically if you want to play your old games on the new console you need a memory unit, which = 440 dollars + tax for a new Halo 3 edition console. This is going to be a huge issue and I don't think they've realized it yet. I talked with support several times, they basically said cancel it and buy and elite. Which is what i'm ready to do.

It's already paid for however and i'd really like to have the halo 3 edition. If you guys can get the attention of Frankie or Lukem's to get the word to M$ this is going to be a problem. They need 20 to 20 gig transfer kits pronto. MAKE SOME NOISE.

Please Help! And keep rockin. Can't wait for Halo 3.

Xbox 360 data transfer kit.

Keyword in that link is ''ELITE''.

I am a Floodian

I'm pretty sure you can transfer hard drive data. Considering that if you are sent a new xbox from repair, you have to. My friends xbox has broken down and he goes over to his friends house all the time and plays on his friends 360 with his data, and his hard drive. However, these stories may be misleading.

Case Mod.

What I mean is take the case off the Halo 3 Consle and put it on your 360 that you have now. Do the same with the HDD.

So that explains why I have been able to play all my original XBLA games that I got on my previous, broken consoles on my brand new premium.... wait.

Actually, you just need to be connected to the internet for all the content to work, its no big deal. And even if you were to transfer all your data over to the new HDD, you'd still have to do the same thing since the data stays registered to the old console.

Actually, what style does the Halo Edition console bring? I could have my 18 month old nephew throw up on mine and come out the same color.

I'm a fan so i'd like to have the new console. But as far as the XBLA content goes M$ does the switch automatically now before sending you a repaired console back. So it's seamless to you. I still would need to transfers all my saves over with a 40 dollar memory card. Then call live support and have all the XBL content moved over to register to my new box. The content wouldn't work unless you move it over by calling support, they have to change the registration on their end. Then download them. I'm not willing to do that unless they give us a 20 to 20 gig transfer kit I won't be buying this, i'll just cancel the pre-order and get an elite down the road.

I really wanted it because i'm a collector of sorts and I wanted a more stable box for the hours on end i'll be playing halo 3. As my launch box died, and my current refurb was cooking during my play through of blue dragon. Just sucks their's no support for this situation.

Oh man, not this crap again! Were you in #MOAP last night when Kritz and Retna went at it, Butane? >:D

Whether you transfer your data or swap HDDs, your XBLA stuff and DLC is tied to the previous console. Any of your buddies have an Elite? Borrow their transfer cable. :P

That won't work, the disc is designed to copy to a 120 gig HDD, 20 to 120. 20 to 20 gig won't work. I've confirmed this with M$.

They should step up and get us a 20 to 20 gig transfer cable.

I suppose, the cables themselves don't matter. They need a disc that can do the transfer from 20 to 20 instead of 20 to 120.

This is an issue. IF they didn't lock them down so much it wouldn't be. But they need to step up. The ONLY way i'm keeping mine (already paid for) is if it's a falcon.

? i'd much rather have this problem than be in your case. it's a good problem if anything.
