Dont sell your old one, problem solved. The majority will only be playing halo 3 anyway so if theyre getting the console and the game at the same time there wont be any problems will old saves.

Not really problem solved. But i'm going to use my old HDD until they do get a transfer kit, much like the elite i'm sure one will pop up soon after it launches. But down the road I'll buy a 120 HDD and just swap the casings, its only 2 screws. Voids the warrenty but i'll be careful.

you wont loose xbl data if you have another xbox... i would know, im on my third one. All you need to do is some account recovery, and then all your data, will be on the Halo 3 xbox 360...good day.
XBL games, pics, and what not are stored on your account, not your xbox.

Why isnt the elite transfer kit working with two premiums, whats so special with the elite? I have no idea how it works or where the cable is connected.

The disc partition software only does 20 to 120. So it can't format 20 to 20, that's why it won't work. Also as far as the account recovery, that won't work for my game saves. While it might let me re-download xbl content i'm guessing, i wouldn't have my old saves. I'd still have to buy a 40 dollar mem card to move them over. Not happening.

Um...you do know the hard drive is detachable?

You also know all you live content is registered to a specific console and can't be played unless it's attached to that console. Otherwise you could just hack copies and distribute.

They need a transfer kit. I'm not attaching my old drive for saves. It would look awful. Besides i'm buying this because i'm a fanboy and for style c'mon.

Jesus Christ. It is registered to an account, not the -blam!- console you jackass. I had a 360 premium. Then I got an Elite. Best Buy couldn't transfer the data from my 20GB to the 120GB so I just had to download all my TV shows and other content again. I had to recover my account. You don't lose anything you paid for. The only thing you lose is game saves. And if you care about the game saves, you can play the game again or finish the game and then buy the new console. Gamer points, Microsoft Points, purchased content are all saved to your Xbox Live account. You just have to go to download history in account management and download everything you care about again. It takes maybe a day at the most.

What don't you -blam!--tards get? You don't have to pay for anything you already purchased the license for, i.e. TV shows, arcade games, themes/gamer pics, etc.

just go buy a 120 gb hard drive and put your stuff on that and then transfer the stuff off that onto the halo 3 edition hard drive poof there you go... not that hard really... and you can just delete the stuff on the 120gb hard drive and return it and make up some excuse about why it didn't work right...

Before Microshaft extended the warranties on 360s, I got the red lights on my premium. This was right before the Elite came out so I traded in my broken console for the Elite. So I got the tranfer kit and transferred all my memory to my new console. I have two xbox live accounts and I can only play arcade games and videos on the account they were purchased on. The only way I can get my MS points back is to show Microshaft a proof of exchange which I gave to GameStop when I traded in my old hard drive for more $ than they usually pay for hard drives. Why? Because they were offering a special promotion for trading in your old 360 w/hard drive towards an elite. I explained the day that I exchanged that I needed to keep my hard drive until I transferred the data because I didn't want to lose old saves and they agreed to give me the rest of my $ when I did this and gave them my old hard drive. To get the rest of my trade in $ for my hard drive I had to show them my exchange receipt. Well, stupid me, I didn't keep the receipt after that because I considered the matter finished and didn't find out until later that I could only play my games on 1 account while signed into xbox live. Now GameStop can't give me another receipt proving that I exchanged 360s because they can't access it after a month.

Microsoft should provide a simple plan for transferring marketplace content to new 360s. I spent a lot of $ on it and now I'm screwed.

That's a funny dilema. Too bad they've had it solved for a while. Here's how it works: When you purchase Marketplace content, it's saved to your Xbox Live account. Then if you get a new H3 360, account recovery, download history, download ALL of your content again. Problem solved.

It's not really 'solved' sure the content might be, but your account on the other box becomes null. And there is stil the issue of saves... I mean i'd like to keep all my blue dragon info and dead rising stuff. I put a lot of hours into some of those games. I'll then come back later and go after specific achievements. You have a partial solution, but how easy would it be to just make the 20 to 20 connectivity and move saves?

Buying a memory card isn't the answer, they need a friggin transfer disc to partition 20 to 20. Someone buying 2 of their systems shouldn't have to deal with downloading all that crap over again.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, the transfer disc only partitions 20 to 120. You can't use it for 20 to 20. or for 120 to 20.

that is where you are wrong. it will save all 360 game saves. when i got a new 360, i pput my GOW in, and everything was there, my game complete, everything. same for call of duty 2, all of the saves were there. halo 1 and 2 on the other hand, were not saved.

ALSO say you bought UNO, if you get a new xbox, it'll still be on your profile, ready to be played.

You don't need a memory card to transfer your memory. You go to xbox.com, print out a form for "data transfer migration kit", fax it to them and you get it in the mail a week later. It works once to transfer data from a 20gb hd to 120gb (I dont' know if you can tranfer from a 20gb to another 20gb). You're market place content is connected to your gamertag, therefore you must be signed into xbox live on the account you purchased it on to use it. Redownloading it doesn't do anything to fix that. This is a real problem.

Ever think about just RECORVERING YOUR GAMERTAG to the new hard drive? That's what me and my friend do to play on the same 360 each with our own accounts. It's not hard at all.

Calm down bud, no need to get banned over something so trivial as someone not listening.

I know it's frustrating, but just take a breath.

Each of these methods have pieces to the puzzle fixes, but each is not a solid fix. You CANNOT transfer 20 to 20 with their partition disc. And the Recover feature will not transfer saves.

The most obvious fix would be to use the recover function, spend 40 bucks on a memory card, and move saves over one at a time... but i'm not doing that. I'll just use my old HDD until the 120's get a drop. Then i'll buy a 120 and swap the outside casing. 2 screws.

It would have been nice if they made a transfer kit however.

Oh really? 'Cause I have a Wii, and we don't have this kind of cosmetic trouble. Our memory is held on SD cards, which are cheap and enough memory to hold alot of games. Plus, we don't have to worry about how it looks, because it stays under a flap in the system. Owned.

Also, the Wii looks a hell of a lot better than the Halo 360 case mod. That thing looks terrible...
