Okay, so as we all know by now, the Halo 3 Legendary Edition helmet comes with a rather small square hole that is meant to make the helmet displayable on a stand with a square peg. While this makes it convenient to display, this will make the helmet exceedingly difficult for its primary purpose, which is as a super-awesome cat torture device.

After a conversation with my favorite tool guy, WFGeppetto, we have determined the best way to get the helmet off that ridiculous display stand and onto your cat's head where it belongs.

The lining is likely to be some sort of hard plastic. At first, I suggested a power drill but Geppetto pointed out to me that this is not exactly efficient. Short of buying a $600 rotary hammer, however, you do still have options that will allow you to have the helmet onto the cat's head in a matter of minutes rather than hours. A simple chisel set plus a jigsaw should to the trick -- cut around the lining on the helmet with the jigsaw (with self-starting blade, if you have one) or even a rotozip, and then simply chisel out the rest of the plastic until you reach the depth of the original cut. Be careful! You wouldn't want to cut through to the outside of the helmet and ruin the beauty of the helmet's lines for the photographs and YouTube videos that you will eventually be taking.

It is also possible that the plastic inside the helmet is a mere lining that is glued inside the helmet and can be removed. A steam nozzle would be ideal to get it out via this method, but most of us probably don't have one. Some Goo-Gone (available at your local grocery store for a couple of bucks) plus a sharp knife should help you get that ridiculous lining out of the helmet as quickly as possible.

The only problem after that, of course, is how to get the helmet onto your cat without getting scratched to death. While Geppetto suggests a valium hidden inside a cat treat or can of tuna fish, cats are notoriously picky eaters. It may be much easier to sneak up on the cat from behind and simply slam it onto its head as quickly as possible. Be sure to have your camera ready, as the first few seconds will be the funniest!

I look forward to seeing your pictures and videos posted here on Bungie.net!

(I'm going to hell)

You should have posted this in my thread...

10 Dollars to the first person to post a picture of their cat with a helmet on it, and 15 dollars to a video at least 20 seconds long with the cat running around with the helmet on.

PM from Equus Asinus: "Calling me a moron for somthing wich you have no part in is stupid. Maybe if you used proper grammer I would feel you as a threat. But, I think you owe me an apology."

I would suggest obtaining some assistance from someone else in the process of planting the Spartan helmet onto your cat. It will probably squirm and wrestle with you, but if there was someone to hold the cat down while you plant the helmet onto it's head you are sure to have greater success.

And to anyone who has a slight sense of humor that isn't wasting their time arguing over the internet who plans on making a video be sure to narrate properly:

Bomb armed!
Bomb planted!
Round over.

I agree with Foman...

All cats should be publicly humiliated for our own personal amusement. What better way to humiliate your pet than by encasing it's feline domepiece within a Spartan helmet?

I think the release of Bungie's game is an exciting time for cat technology. Let the good times roll.

Oh, I want to see how this cat would react to the procedure... for purely scientific reasons of course.

You might get a better grip on the cat if you shaved it first.

Also, it's tricky but it does work; cut your cats nails. Cat claws can be cut just like human nails. Be sure to cut only the razor part, though, as a cats fingers start inside the nails.

Just a tip.

You must have no compassion in your entire body to come up with some bull-blam!- like this.

Not to mention, I'm glad that you think that the college that you go to determines how much money you will be making when you have no idea what I am doing, how old I am, and such as well.

As for replying to this, I read through random threads, usually not even paying attention to the title, since a lot of whatever is posted here is junk. And to actually read some of this just tipped me off. Yeah, at first it just pissed me off a little, and then he offended me with his reply to it.

You, on the other hand are some heartless piece of work that I feel just needs to get trashed.

I'm done..I'm going to bed. I'm tired of this internet bull-blam!- trend of having to act immature to get the upper hand on someone.

I never said the college i go to determines how much money i make. You said i need to stay in school, so i pointed out that i am indeed still in school.

I dont need to know how old you are. i can make my own assumption. This is a JOKE topic. An adult (over 14 in this topics case) would understand that its a -blam!- joke, and an adult would understand that at 13 years old a cat is nearing the end of its life no matter what.

tired of internet bull-blam!-? Welcome to the internet, it was created a long time ago and since day one its contained bull-blam!-, yet you are just now getting tired of it? Get used to it.

I took this thread as a joke topic when I saw it as well. And I also well aware of the differences of a cat and a human in comparison. True if the cat is starting to show its age its inevitable that its going to pass on. But that doesnt explain anything about any bond that you share with it. Just because your an adult doesnt mean your not allowed to show any speck of emotion even if it isnt a human. Lets just say that your family gets a puppy when you were 2 or 3 years old and you grew up with this puppy for the 15 or so years it was alive are you going to toss it into the trash can and just plain out get another one?

But then again I also know that anything a guy named Sphincter says to me over the net shouldnt be taken with a grain of salt rofl. And no im not with PETA lol. I have had a couple of dogs pass on when I was younger and it hit me pretty hard considering all the other kids were ***hats when I was attending school.

Buddy, im not saying pets having sentimental value is stupid. my parents have 3 golden retrievers and i love them and understand that they mean something to me. However, i am NOT saying that being an adult is about not having a sentimental value. i said being an adult is understanding that they are going to die, especially if its 13 years old, and being an adult is about not taking something seriously, especially when its a topic about putting a helmet on a cat. Adults more than anyone have attachments to pets and i know this, and im not denying this. But for his attachment beign so hard to get on a forum and -blam!- to everyone and say that its so bad and we are heartless is just stupid and childish.

Now that I understand you a little more I dont have anymore problems.

Cats don't have hands.

G-pet I have to stop you right here. There are pics floating around the internets that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that kittahs have hands. Not only do they have hands, they have jazz hands!

Pics so it did happen!

Alos, I <3 Kittahs!!!

I think part of the issue is that some folks are just joking, others are seriously planning kitty torture. If I've learned anything about Halo fans it is that some portion love to torture other animals be they human or otherwise. They are often too stupid to think of good ways to do it, but if you give them an idea they will drive it into the ground (ie - "I dropped the ball of the map... a ha ha ha.... isn't that hilarious?" ... for the thousandth time). As a side note - torturing animals is characteristic of the profile of a serial killer.

It bothers me a little to squash bugs, because I wonder if I may someday get squashed myself. To those that make an argument that cats are not equal beings to humans, I hope for your sake no being greater than you decides to mash something on your head for the fun of it.

Kids out there, understand this thread is a joke please (and BonsaiKitty). Have a good laugh, but please don't try this at home.

Oh c'mon man, I'm sure that if the LE helmet was any bigger my cat would have preordered one and he'd be figuring as we speak the best way to fit into my head as I sleep or something.

You know . . . It might fit a chihuahua ( sp? ) better.

My cat's head is way to big, even if I hollowed the helmet out.
She must have grown big on purpose, the fiend!

Oh Snap! I have 2 chihuahuas! I'm totally on it, but it'd be way funnier on a cat.

Btw: S3N, excellent point. I forgot about the jazz hands.

My sister has had 12 cats in 4 years, the ones that havne't run away within two months of having them, have died in some completely grotesque and freak way... It's actually quite amazing, when you think about it, how crazy my sister's cat reputation is. I'm pretty sure those cats commit suicide... I'm not going into details, but there's no way anything can naturally die like these cats did.

Maybe a helmet will make them feel badass and give them a will to live. =)

Gosh, I wonder what you consider "relatives?" The rats in the sewer?

Are you expecting a large fleet of internet angels to coddle you?

What a drama queen.

Cat helmets for the win.
