Penny Arcade Expo blah blah blah..
Then there was the Omegathon! .. Which I missed..
But both Saturday and Sunday I was able to host Halo 2 freeplay in the Console freeplay area! This lasted for Nine hours on Saturday and Seven on Sunday(The crowd wasn't large enough to support one guy working such a small group, I went back to work with my crew
This was a great break from Live and a real refresher on why Halo 2 was so great. All the variants that wouldn't fly on Live were actually welcomed by the people there. Really, CTF Plasma Rifles, Shotgun/sword matches, and CTF duals games were frequent and well loved by the high-adrenaline games.
Due to the general atmosphere of PAX, players were mostly not too concerned about winning as much as they were concerned about having fun. That said, a lot of players had a whole lot of fun. There was everything from players who had never tried the game before to some hardcore kids. Some players had played the game to win before, and some players would even glitch. The crowd who were aware of these things all agreed to not have that, as teammates and opposition always noted how not cool it was. This actually resulted in such things simmering down. Soon, superheroes realized the game is not as challenging or as fun on a LAN when you actually BXR someone who has never played the game before, when the person next to you has just dual-wielded for the first time and scored their first kill. It was funny seeing the tense faces of some hardcore kids slowly turn more friendly as more hooting and hollering was spread across the 16 player mess.
Shout in the dark, but were any of you there for this?
