Im still just 2/3 in and theyve touched upon the re-play value but when and does the straight re-play value question ever come? Thats the first thing i would have asked:
How much are you focusing on the re-play value during the process?
Many games, GoW is what i would have used as an example, were great the first time but once it was over i never played them again...crackdown suffered from that syndrome too. Games that i would give 10/10 on the first experience but 0/10 the second time. Its $60 and most people wants to have fun a second, third etc time, not just for the money but becasue thats what makes a great game. Halo 2 had IMO a few great mission that i played over and over again, outskirts is probably my no´1 mission, and halo ce had a few too.
Edit: The campaign score is one way but not the right way, people should come back for the game itself and not for bragging rights.
You make a good point, Batzer. I would like to know why video game reviewers give only one overall score for a game when there are clearly two separate games within the game (with single and online multiplayer games, there are TWO different games on one disk). A simple "SINGLE/MULTI SCORE" such as:
EXAMPLE
Halo CE: 9.5/10.0 (campaign/multiplayer)
Halo 2: 8.0/10.0
GOW: 7.5/9.0
Stranglehold: 8.0/6.0
Half-Life 2: 10.0/N/A
etc.
...my point is... so many components a reviewer looks at would be graded on the appropriate 'side' of the game-type YOU, personally, are interested in. Does anyone else agree?
