If Sony said that Halo3 was coming to their console, this is what the world would say...

"This is the way the world ends...."

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

It's similar in the fact that Halo is a Ringworld. That's about it really.

Are you reading this!?

I say it's more inspired. Some of the best things in life are inspired but things.

Yes, Halo draws heavily on a number of different sci-fi works.

They're similar, But ringworld is about exploration, while halo is about war. I've read the books and played the games.

Yeah, ringworld is where an An alien named nessus( A Peersons pupeteer) recruits Louis Wu, Tella Brown ( Both Humans) And Speaker Too Animals ( Kzintee(SP)) to explore the ringworld. ( The plot's deeper than that but i won't go into it). And Halo is, well. You know.

Most of the Iain M Banks Culture Novels contain "ring worlds" called orbitals but they are purely residential.

I think the Halos are unique in being doomsday devices.

Im not sure but halo2 is based on movies and games. For example:There was Marathon which bungie made. The game
was based on hitman types of games.Halo fuses hitman acts with military, and modern future action.
But im not sure....

It was inspired by Ringworld. Thats all. The author of Ringworld was offered the opportunity to novelise Halo but declined due to unfamiliarity with the HaloVerse.

Yes, because like we've never seen an organism that latches onto your head and takes control of your nervous system like Flood infection forms. Not that it's a bad thing, but people should remember it's not too original. It's just like Alien. They didn't steal it from anybody.... they stole it from everybody!

And what is the difference there, exactly?

And in many of the cases the ideas that were 'borrowed' had already been borrowed in the first place anyway. You won't find much that doesn't reference anything else, and that includes the things halo references.
