you can't stop the swearing, it's an M rated game, we can swear as much as we like (not that i do myself, i have a large enough vocabulary) and this is the reason why those underage should not be playing this game online.

No we can't swear as much as we like just because its rated M. Read the terms & conditions of Xbox live I'm sure there is something in there about it.

i said that there was no way of stopping it, so the best way to keep kids away from it is to not let them play on Live

red riders

Now you know you can't keep these kids in a plastic bubble they hear these words on TV, at school, in the mall, at home and every way. It's the way that people talk now a days this goes way deeper than just a video games.

omg ranting about this is not gonna change anything. it is fine for people to play halo no matter what age or whatever. please, if you have a problem, keep it to yourself because not all the ppl will agree.
your basically saying that kids should not be playing shooters....
so kids cant play perfect dark, crackdown, halo, what's next Marathon: Durandal or DOOM?
ITS FINE it wont kill us. some of you have good points but what do you expect us to do, play mario for fun or zelda? oh please...
Video games were MEANT for the kids. sure some games like GoW werent but still, video games are for fun, dont tell us that because we're young we cant play or look at those ratings by esrb, its M its bad for kids under 17...
dont make me laugh. some kids are mature enough to know not to swear if your young and not act like the other guys are.
whatever this doesnt change anything, ratings were made for ADVISEMENT not LAW. If our parents let us, its none of your business, if they say yes, i can go on xbox live. I still ask them for advice on where to go for chat and stuff.
M for Mature guys.
Mature kids get rewards. In my case, I got Halo 2. It's our lives so get on with yours or forever hold your peace.

Yes. Its not on video games only. People can play video games and stuff whatever. Tv, school, the mall, everywhere. TV swearing influence is a bigger issue. You know how many kids play online, how about TV? Rant about that? Will you? I saw an 8 year old watching The Simpsons and Family Guy..... DEE DEE DEE. Kids in my 5th grade class watch the Simpsons and Adult Swim and Family Guy. I'm just saying, kids can play Halo if they want to, swearing etc. happens at school, and other places and it cant be stopped, not everyone swears constantly. If someone does, quit or mute them. Its that simple. Got it. Being trash talked, MUTE OR QUIT. Constant swearing, MUTE OR QUIT. You cant kick someone for what only a fraction of a crowd does. Fellow kids, take this into suggestion on LIVE. That's all. It's been a good debate guys.(Final post on this thread, dont bother replying, I wont answer.)
EDIT: I WILL ONLY POST AGREEMENTS TO OTHERS
EDIT: Im back on this mentally ill thread.

I'm getting tired of it too, I'm tired of a kid with a microphone and a single digit IQ screaming in my ear, for the stupidest -blam!-, like i took his sniper rifle while he was on the other side of the map, I stole his kill, or for just plain killing him. (in a video game where that is the objective i might add)
You can't even buy the damn game unless your 18!!! how many stupid as F**** parents are out there?
Its really quite discouraging that parents subject their children to this, and its even more discouraging that I have to be subjected to playing with them.

  • 09.14.2007 8:46 AM PDT

My take on it is that the LIVE system should enfore game rating when logging in with an XBL account. Everyone has their b-day set on the account and then XBL should take that into account and only let gamers who meet the age requirement sign into the said game. Why this won't happen, simple the game industry would be greatly effected because of this. Less people could sign into certain games, which means less sales.

Now when it comes down to a parent's responsibility yes that should play a large aspect of a child's gameing expirence. My son is 5 at this momment. I do let him play online Halo, but only with me on my other xbox and with a group of people that I know (custom games only). He isn't that bad either and because I restrict the interactions he can have I believe he won't be infulenced by the jerks out there, at least on this game. He doesn't have access to a TV that is out of sigh so he can't sign in a play without us knowing.

what's a little spinal fluid between you and a friend?

It's not a matter of age, it's a matter of maturity. I've met 20 year olds worse than some 9 year olds.(And visa versa)

Ok I'll admit now that I am 13, going to be 14 when Halo 3 comes out. I do play Halo and will get Halo 3 when it comes out, assuredly. Anyways the point isn't their tone of voice necessarily that makes people dislike the young kids, it's that they shouldn't be playing Halo at all. I know you probably think that I'm a hypocrite and that I do the same thing as these kids, but I know the consequences of cussing at an early age, or playing these kind of video games. Such as growing up to be a complete jerk and being disrespectful to your elders. If the kid hears the cussing then he will most likely say those things to his little kid friends. The parenting in this country is for the most part incredibly poor. They shouldn't allow their kids to play these games or XBL period. I totally agree with you on everything you just said. And CABOOSETA, it IS the parents fault if they play it anywhere else. Like if I Go to a friends or something like that, my dad investigates everything that he can to make sure that I am not exposed to certain things that could influence me to do something bad. Like if I went to a friends house and he wanted me to watch Jack*** with him then my dad would say NO and I couldn't go. That is one of many ways to keep the kid from indecent exposure, by just saying NO. Now I can't blame him for letting me play Halo because I believe that I would learn to make better decisions later in life if i knew which ones could lead to destruction and stay away from then then to go along and let him make the decisions for me.

Well if you read earlier then you would have realised that i didnt say its not the parents fault i just said ro an extent you can get kids that have no regard for rules and regulations, they dnt listen to parents or anyone. And you saying all this but your playing a mature game, so you really can't talk can you.

well it doesn't matter what age you are necessarily, its the maturity level and i happen to have a high one at that. Anyways you said " you couldn't blame just the parents, it's also the kids fault" and i said that all the parent has to do is see what the place has (like any M or above games or movies) and tell them that they can't go. It's that simple. I mean if it's a "kid" then they wouldn't be able to take themselves to where they could play, the parent still has control over that.

It's all about the parents.

yep. Its all about what they do. If you see a kid playing xbl his/her parents had a reason because its rated M (in Japan CERO 15+) For those telling parents to take kids off of xbl,
WHO ARE YOU TO TELL THEM TO RAISE THEIR KIDS! brainless.....

Yeah, and most of those ppl are unemployed and have nothing better to do than trash talk kids because most of them think that they should raise someone on xbl they've never even met. Its xbox LIVE not an adoption center!

Im sorry, I just dont like it when others are just saying this bullcrap about kids and should they be allowed to play xbl. If the parents allow them they can play xbl. my parents were fully aware of the cussing etc. This is NoT yOuR pRoB1Em!!!!!!!!!!
These are not your kids! (even some of the ppl replying are 16 and younger and dont have any....) Im young and i play proudly. Then you try and ruin the gaming for them, thats a chunk of crap. What are you gonna do? Nothing. Its gonna happen for a long time to come till all the kids grow up. Got a problem live with it. Or kill yourself. Then you go to your kid-free xbl heaven.... pretty sad to me.....
*sigh*

I dont really know whats the problem..

the only problem i see is the fact that younger players are beating you and your sick of it?

If they say there 9 cant they be lieing?

I go and say im 20. People beleive me but im younger.

With you all the way man. They're just tired of getting beaten by ppl younger than them so they talk crap. youre trying to rashionalize the fact that YOU want kids off of xbl. This goes out to the idiots that have a problem with kids playing xbl. Video Games WERE originally MEANT FOR KIDS! Im glad im not one of YOU. I have friends because of that.

I personally don't have a problem with little kids although I wish I didn't have to even hear them. MOST of them are immature or don't know what they are talking about. I just hate it when some kid starts trash talking but doesn't know what any of it means. There is nothing to do about these little kids but it would be nice if there was a way to avoid them. Again Maturity is what counts!!

Yes, finally someone on this thread who has a good idea. I mute trash talkers unless they're askin for a whooping. I mute little kids if they talk to loud or trash talk and scream into theyre mic at the same time. Mostly its those mentally retarded kids who scream into their mic when they lose or they have to go take a bath because theyve been wearing the same thing ever since they tried to look cool by trash talking on xbl.
Kids, go online if you dont swear/scream/trash talk. Get your parents permission and be mature. Maturity counts! Rated M for Mature.

But seriously... Who cares? Worry about your own life. It really gets old hearing people complain about little kids all day. I'm not a little kid or anything like that. I am just saying that people make such a big deal over nothing. If it is their voice that bothers you then mute them. If you are that worried about them picking up all these things you say on xbox live, then maybe you shouldn't say them when he is around... Find other things to do with your life, and stop posting on forums about how these games are ruining the youth of America... If the parents are willing to buy the game for their children, then who are you to tell somebody else how to raise their child? That is their decision. Even if it is not the right one, it shouldn't aggravate you this much.

Mike you do rock.

I am complaining about their parents total disregard of their childrens future. Would you want your child(if you have one) be playing these games with this kind of enviorment?

Get some maturity. You just dont want kids playing halo cause they beat you. You cant tell parents how to raise their kids. It gets old. Idiocy, stupidity... Halo has nothing to do with their future. Parents care about their kids. they do what they want! They raise how they raise! Lose the attitude. So here's what you do, shut up, just shut up shut up. Shut up just shut up shut up! Shut up and I hope I never see a thread like this by you again.
