Here's a chance to list what you think of Bungie's games: What worked for you and what didn't. I'd recommend that you have a look at the full spectrum of what bungie has to offer here. However, if you haven't played all of Bungie's games just yet, don't let it worry you (but you are missing out =) it's well worth the effort of getting hold of them if you can).
The basic format is as follows: For each subject, list your answer and a discription or explanation if you want. Feel free to add more if you want.
Favourite Hero (Player Character):
The Master Chief got some good lines, cool action squences and a shiny suit, Konoko has the moves and the crazy hair, and the Myth dwarves are have just the right amount of surliness, but I'd have to go with the Marathon Series Security Officer. He is an enigma, no one really knows who (or what) he is, what he thinks or why he does what he does. He's past is a mistery, his future is unsure and yet he fights with a purpose and confidence all the same.
Favourite NPC:
Sarge - definitely sarge. Can a game character be any more awesome? He's the only human to survive a flood infection, the only non-spartan to survive the destruction of the first halo and he has a kick-arse attitude. If he was born 20 years later and was chosen as a spartan, they would have only needed one!
Worst NPC:
Rurik - Man that guy annoys me! "Tallow is *this* way!"
Most Evil Bad Guy:
Soulblighter. The concept of the leveller is cool, and the Wrkncacnter sounds pretty nasty, but in terms of in-your-face evilness, Soulblighter is it. Plus he has the crow thing, who can argue with that!
Favourite AI:
Durandal. He rules. (though the rampant deadly brain in Oni was pretty funny!)
Best Weapon:
WSTE-M5 Combat Shotgun! No gun has the same feeling!
Worst Weapon:
The scram cannon in Oni. It just never worked for me.
Most Frustrating In-Game Moment:
When I melee by mistake when playing halo on the xbox. I use the greenthumb layout and most of the time it works well, but in the mist of a battle when I get excited I tend to melee (and drop my dual wield in halo 2).
Hardest Puzzle:
Colony Ship For Sale on the original marathon. It took me ages to figure that out.
Favourite Level (solo):
Blaspheme Quarrentine.
Worst Level (solo):
Waterloo park. I have played that level so many times it drives me nuts!
Favourite Multiplayer Level:
Thunderdome/Beyond Thunderdome/Foundation. Whoever thought to bring this map to Halo 2 should get a raise!
Worst Multiplayer Level:
5D space, closely followed by the teleporter one in halo.
Favourite In-Game Area:
The halo rings. They are so fun to explore.
Best Multiplayer Gametype:
Tag on Marathon or juggies on halo.
Best Game Feature:
The saved films. So you can save the experiance and watch it over and over and over. Halo 2's stat pages are just not the same :(
Best Game Feature that didn't make it (for any reason):
Editors for Oni. That would have been so good. Halo 1 solo campaign editors for the PC would have been good too.
Worst Bug:
Not quite a bug, but it annoys me all the same: dual wielding in marathon is a pain if you have a 2 button mouse. The left trigger fires the right hand gun and the right trigger fires the left.
'Best' Bug:
Sword flying in halo 2.
Favourite Music Track:
While I really like the halo music, and the halo 2 menu music is awesome, The siege of magridal would have to be my favourite track.
Favourite Editor:
Res edit! It was the only way to read the marathon terminal text for quite a while.
Best Easter Egg:
The level Hats off to 819 hidden as a compressed Map file as binary in a terminal.
Favourite Quote:
"Greetings. You're asking yourself: Is this a trap or just a dead end? You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is my purpose in this universe? (Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a shotgun, and you ain't got one.)"
Worst Quote:
Where Cortana says that the tunnel on the level "halo" is "not a natural formation". The entire ringworld is not an natural formation!! She almost makes up for it on the gondalas in halo 2 where she starts talking in a battle then says "Oh, you were trying to kill something?"
Coolest Monster:
The simalacrum in marathon. So funny to listen to, so fun to fight and so annoying if you miss them!
Worst Monster:
The drones - they get everywhere and they are so hard to hit. They are worse then the marathon wasps/meepers.
Best Hack:
Making an assult rifle fire rockets. Its fun to do in marathon, halo or any other game really.
Scariest In-Game Moment:
Most of pathways into darkess. That game still freaks me.
Favourite In-Game Moment:
Breaking peoples necks in Oni. I love melee fights, so Oni was good. Punching out Hulks in Marathon is always good, and a pistol whip in halo is satisfying, but the neck break in Oni was the best.
Hope for the future:
That Halo 3 arrives quickly, has an awesome conclusion to the series and leaves more questions then answers! That Bungie announces the freeware status of all it's oldschool games (Marathon Infinty and Pathways especially), and bungie's next game series will keep me as entertained as the ones before.
