Actually I had a fun idea with that.

We go to another Halo. Chief runs across this other Monitor (let's refer to him as 049 Innocent Flame for now) and they are actually buddy buddy. But the 049IF has no idea that one of the other Halos has been destroyed. So he becomes nice to the Chief. He goes so far on being nice with the Chief that he kills off an entire division of Grunts at the cost of many Sentinels.

Well things go on and the Chief goes on a new mission. As he is on this mission he runs across nonother than that annoying blue boy. 049IF comes across the Chief and meets the 343GS. 343 declares what the Chief did and both are after all USNC forces on the ring.

Well about this time, guess what? The Flood are released. Well now we have another four front war on Halo. Sounds great. I enjoyed that twist.

But as time goes on you discover something. It wasn't the Covenant that released the Flood this time, nor was it the UNSC. No, instead it was 343GS. He did it as a matter of revenge and reason to set off the Halos. His poor little CPU couldn't take the logic the Chief had by blowing up Halo and he needed to set them off to get some self satisfaction out of it. Basically he tunred out to be pretty self centered.

After finding this info oput you manage to show 049IF this. He gets pissed and is back again on your side.

Where it goes from here is beyond me, maybe Halo goes off, maybe 343 dies, maybe just maybe Bungie has a better idea for a plot.

You should be able to kill 343 this time around.

What i mean is, at the end of the game the camera pans up and what do you see? the milky way. so then the other rings are on the outskirts of the galaxy, To get the entire galaxy you need 4 at = distances to wipe clean everything.

Did any of you read. 4 multiplied by 25,000= 100,000

The galaxy is three dimensional, menaing it is bigger than your precious 100,000 ly diameter. I even made a freaking map of this once in FST a month back. Trust me, in order to effectively wipe OUR galaxy clean it would take 13 Halos.

As for you see the milky way galaxy. No -blam!-, it was in, and I quote " Forgotten corner of the galaxy " (said by Joe Staten at Gamestock 2001). Meaning Halo is way out there. plus it looks good as a part of the cinematic.

OK then well maybe there were 5 halos in all. Since the galaxy is 3 dimensional then there must be one at our galaxies core, but i do'nt think. B/C I don't think the rings pulse goes in a straight line it probably expands out like a giant bubble.

P.S. If it came from the discovery channal then it has to be right.

I have posted this before, but here it goes again.
Dimensions of the Milky Way Galaxy:
* 100,000 ly diameter
* 300 ly thickness
* 16,000 ly buldge at the galactic center

Placement of Halos:
* 1 at the galactic center for the buldge
* 4 on the x-axis 25,000 ly from the galactic center
* 8 on the x-axis near the edged of the galaxy

4 is not enough to cover the galaxy, the Halos have a circular radius and the buldge would not covered. I have drawn ot the placement of the Halos to scale and it takes 13.

if the radius is 25,00 than the daimeter would be 50,000 and 2 time 50,000 = 100,000

Hedwig thank you, thank you for shedding light on the darkness. It is a crying shame that people around here are just too damn thick to get all the numbers inside their puny heads. What a freaking headache.

People listen you are just saying 100,000. That is in one direction. Left and right. You forget about up and down as well as front and bakc. Plus you have every other concievebale angle to cover. You can't just have 1 or 2 Halos out there. Especially when we know there are at least 4!

Ok the the diameter is 100,000 ly
radius=50,000 ly
pi x rsquared

50,000 squared x pi = 7850000000 / 25000 = 314000 halos at least this is just 2 dimensional do the math.

Yes the area of 4 Halos equals the area of the universe. But try to fit 4 circles with a radius of 2 inches into a circle with a radius of 4 inches, covering all the area and not overlappin them. It is impossible therefore you need 9 more cover all the and giving you muliple coverage through out most of the galaxy.

You idiot...
50 000 squared= 100 000 x 3.14 (pie)
=314 000
314 000 is the size of the galaxy in 3 dimensions so the galaxy it 314 000 light years cubed.
So 314 000 devided by 25 000 ("effective range of Halo") =12.56
So there has to be a minimum of 13 Halos. not 314 000...

im guessing 7 rings since everything is in sevens and since 1 is destroyed that makes 6 and then the plot is going to lead to 2 other 6's which is the mark of the beast which means we are screwed

what i am trying to say is that the rings pulse does not go in a staight line. it probably expands like a bubble. a bubble that is 25,000 light years across, up, down, left, right ect...

-Sigh, i'm surounded by untrained grunts

P.S. Quit talking like this is in real life and a threat

If the galaxy has a diameter of 100,000 light years, then a lot of Halos would be required, way more than 13.

area of a cricle(galaxy is roughly circular): Pi x Radius x Radius (Pi x R^2)
Radius of galaxy: approx 50,000 light years
Approximate area of galaxy: 7,853,980,000 light years.

Halo blast radius: approx. 25,000 light years
Halo blast diameter(with Halo at center): approx. 50,000 light years

7,853,980,000 / 50,000 = 157,079.6

Equally distributed, it would take approx 157,080 Halo installations to cover the entire area of the galaxy. The galaxy's average thickness (up and down) is around 2,000 light years, well within range of a Halo located anywhere vertically in the galaxy.

Note: these are approximate, and are just my calculations, correct me if you find an error somewhere

No you are the idiot 50,000 squared is not 100,000 thats 50,000 times two dumbass. Squaring means you multiply it by itself what grade are you in.

The area of the galaxy wouldnt be divided by the blast diameter of the halos it would be the area of the blast radius Pi x 25,000^2=1963495408.49

the number of halos = 7,853,980,000/ 1963495408.49 = 3.99999916783 = 4 halos

This is only in 2 dimensions so these 4 halos wouldn;t reach every point in the galaxy since the blast radius at the top and the bottom of the galaxy would be smaller so there would need to be more halos to cover the open spaces, probably 9 more to bring the total to 13 I think someone else has already said 13 halos.

I thing that I think that you may be forgeting is the that there is 3 demensions! So yes the galaxy might 100000 light years across but what about height?

[sarcasm] thank you for giving me credit for coming up with the 3d factor [/sarcasm]
Ya and there are people of give credit where credit is earned, s o I thank you.Oh and the rest of you have great ideas!

Well, I believe this is sort of correct, calculations might be a little off but otherwise perfect. To be precise it would be 157,000 Halo installations.
