Marathon was a great game—the first 1st person shooter I ever played (with the possible exception of Wolfenstein 3D).

I thought Marathon 2 was even better; the BOBs with the pistols were awesome. Marathon Infinity was also cool.

Being an old-school mac gamer I'm also a big fan of Pathways Into Darkness. Do any of you remember that?

Although, the issue stopped occuring..

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

I, sadly, have not played marathon much at all. I am just no good with PC controlls; that's why I want a console version.

That's just not going to happen any time soon, or ever.

It's awesome how the Marathon games (as well as Pathways into Darkness) still work on modern macintosh computers.

My other favorite classic mac games (Beyond Dark Castle and Mission Starlight) stopped working on new computers many years ago.

That's because the kernel for Macs isn't any different now. Any given game that tells you works on an NT machine will work on XP or 2000. The core OS was completely different from 98 to NT, 98 was DOS with a clown suit, NT was a multi-user, fully functional OS. Microsoft abandoned the single user crap, apparently, once they realized that nobody liked ME.

Fun Fact: Technically, DOS, 3.x, 9.x, and ME OSs couldn't multitask. They switched between tasks automatically fast enough for you not to notice. The last clause of that sentence may or may not be true, though.

What are you talking about the mac kernel isn't any different? The differences between mac os 9 and mac os x are huge. Not even the same os at all. The only reason mac os 9 apps can run in os x is because of the classic enviroment(which is like a mac os 9 emulator for os x).

Most os 9 games don't run too well in the classic enviroment either.

Someone ported dark castle to os x I think...Here's a link.

"Don't use the caps lock to run and never leave a single bob alive"

Marathon was the first fps I ever played. It is actualy sitting right next to me on my computer desk...... well, its marthon 2. If bungie realeased a marathon colection pack for xbox with live play... I would buy it in a heart beat.
