I can deal with using the keyboard and the mouse. It works pretty well. Not as well as the USB port in the back of my neck, but well enough.

But using it brought me to a question. What controllers are you using on the PC for Halo? What are the advantages, disadvantages.

If you're using the traditional keyboard / mouse combination, have you remapped any of the commands? If so, which ones and why?

I use a gamepad, but its sucks. The analog sticks are to loose to provide with any desent accuracy. But since I'm using a laptop to play Halo, its better than the little square that you use for a mouse in a laptop.

I like using controllers better though, because Halo is the only PC game that I have really extencively played, im not used to using the keyboard. And since I set up the control scheme like its Xbox counterpart. Playing people only has acutally helped me get better at halo for Xbox.

What I dislike is what I stated above, you have to have a good one to really use them effectively. I think that I will buy one of those things that lets you use your Xbox control with your PC. Since the Xbox control was made for FPS games (IMO).

Heyyo,

Well, if the xbox controller was designed for FPS games they would've implemented that rollerball like that one 3rd party controller did, that make FPS at least more like a computer, like an emulation of a computer's trackball mouse, just not as good as one though...

The reason why you guys are having harder times on PC with gamepads is the lack of autoaim. You're probably used to xbox halo's autoaim doing aboot 1/4th the work for ya, on PC? it's all you, no autoiam.

So far, the only one I've seen is using a gamepad, but it doesn't work well. What do other people do?

Game pad = Disadvantage

Mouse and Keyboard > Gamepad

Need proof? Duel someone whith someone using a gamepad and the other person using mouse and keyboard. You will see.

On a gamepad, your aim is only as fast as the damn controller stick sensativity your forced to use. With a mouse, your aim is as fast as your reflexes (and a lot more accurite too).

It can take some time getting used to if you dont play PC games that much.

comprimise: use a trackball. it's got the precision and accuracy of a mouse, but the generic feel and hundreds of buttons of a controller. can't wait to get one

One of the many reasons I like to call myself a "Hardcore PC Gamer" is because I never use any of those gamepad loads of crap. Just go with the keyboard and if ya dont wanna I don't -blam!- care. Have a nice day.
