Cost aside, I don't think MS are set up for huge dataflow in a short period. They'd need quite a few servers on multiple internet connections, dedicated solely to the podcast.

um... I think you may have forgotten the fact that they release videos on Bungie.net pretty frequently. A few notable ones were the Halo 3 Announcement trailer, the vid-docs, and the first Blomkamp Halo short. If they wanted to do a video, they could host it with no problems.None of those (with the exception of the announcement trailer) would have been downloaded as rabidly as a podcast.
And I'm fairly certain they were hosted elsewhere. AND they were pretty much one-offs.
