Can someone look at this members sig and say that isn't offensive? I mean really, Iceman you are right maturity is a key word here.

Derailed threads due to attention whoring? Of course. Look at this recent thread in the Flood. Can you point out what post made the thread go down hill? It's getting ridiculous and redundant.

I can.

It's actually very funny :). However, you have to know java and/or be a regular of the flood to get it. It's actually mocking those who immediately jump on the "omg disgusting" or "omg offensive" bandwagons at every opportunity.

Dr Cox, let the Mods decide. It's their call.

The flood's purpose is to divert all spam to one place, I think its working, very well. Besides the Halo 3 forum, which is being strictly monitored, the flood is a good forum and it lets people get out whatever they need to get out. Those "ignorant members" can rot in the flood and create a ruckus all they want, as long as they do it their, as opposed to the Septigon, or another forum.

Yes but you have to remember that there are children on this site who's parents may find that very offensive.

Wikipedia
Head cheese (AmE) or brawn (BrE) is in fact not a cheese, but rather a terrine of meat from the head of a calf or pig (sometimes a sheep or cow) that would not otherwise be considered appealing. It may also include meat from the feet and heart. It is usually eaten cold or at room temperature as a luncheon meat. It is sometimes also known as soucemeat, particularly if pickled with vinegar.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I wonder how many people who point out rule breakers in threads like these actually report them. We cannot be everywhere at once and see everything. Just my two cents.

Unintentional head cheese? They must make it differently where you're from. I'm not really seeing any other intention from boiling a head or other applicable body part.

I'm not really in the other public forums enough to notice all this "offensive" noise. Thank you so much for groups. If you think what gets said/typed on the public forums is offensive or spammy, you would literally wet yourself if you've read some of the things I've seen discussed in groups. We may not have as much input and activity in groups as the main forums, but our niches allow us to say what we really want to say. Well, that is until a gold-texter decides we've gone too far-even privately.

Come on ICEMAN! Is there really too much buttsecks? I still laugh at people complaining about JAVA's sig.

Bungie is built off bad jokes.

Check out Online play lately ?
Ever listen to the marine banter in Halo games ?
Have you read an update ?
Ever listen to the podcast ?

How are the forums ever going to be different ?
Anyways why whine ? We have more of this junk then bad jokes, me thinks.

One can only control ones own posts so go out there and show the world how to do it. Why worry about everybody else ? Nobody really wants the place to be full of robot clones. Believe me. What would we whine about then ?

With the intending release of Halo 3 and the rising numbers of less than intelligent users on the forum I was wondering if the Moderating staff has considered issuing bans for gross ignorance. Examples of this would include posters who blatantly ignore any type of grammar, logic, or who are utterly devoid of any knowledge relating anything done on these forums.

Ignorant posts such as those asking for things such as new weapons for halo 3 are a perfect example of this. We all know that the release dare of halo 3 is less than two weeks away, so such requests are as pointless and a waste of space. Other examples of this are those people who seek to stifle the opinions of others. Any time someone asks for a realistic change, there is invariably someone who posts “if you don’t like it don’t buy/play it”. It is clear to me that bungie created these forums, in part, to gather opinions. As such, not only are these people trolling/being asses, they are also taking away from the usefulness of these forums, and the exchange of thought.

These examples are found mostly in the halo 3 forum, but unfortunately there are found everywhere. The flood for example is full of people who make bad jokes(there is actually a rule about this), one liners, etc. Things like “phial” “no u” anything about "butt secks" etc. need to go. In every forum people absolutely refuse to use the search feature, we know button glitches are cheating, we don’t need another 10 threads about it.
It just seems like every time that I come to these forums, the users are dumber than the last time I was here. I know that it is a hard job, but the moderators are looking anyways and users really do need to be shown that this type of thing degrades these forums. The rules are there for a reason and they need to be followed, and this rule needs to both be made, and followed.

This seems more like a bloggy rant than an actual suggestion or idea.

I think that the Halo 3 Forum and The Flood have two different problems.

In the Flood, no one listens to you unless you find a way to "become a cool kid." Unfortunately, being cool consists of mentioning your mom and butt secks. These young whippersnappers feel they have to over-play it to fit in. The "cool kids" of the Flood hate when things are over-played. Now, we have two sets of people. People who are trying to fit in by doing what the "cool kids" do and over-playing it, and the "cool kids" who hate the over-playedness of the joke. Yes, you do develop some sort of comraderie between members, but that shouldn't say that you can't become bros with a new member. Some of these people just want a chance to be heard, but if someone of relative fame in the Flood posts above or below the new member, he'll be overlooked. It's not about saying the most outrageous thing, it's about having discussions about anything and everything.... as long as it's within the rules. If the Flood wasn't such an unstated popularity contest, it'd be a lot better. I know that the Flood has become known for it's stupidity and randomness, and that's all good fun, but I've been noticing an increase in the stupidity and inappropriate randomness. Maybe it's just me, but if the attitude of the "cool kids" can change to the point where they can be all "Welcome!", instead of insulting each other's mother, the forum as a whole would be greatly improved.

In the Halo 3 Forum, just the opposite is happening. We have people who are desperate to be heard. The problem here with people trying to be heard is that everyone hears them instead of the ignoring that goes in the Flood. That's where the responses of "OLD!!!!" come in to play. People fail to realize that not everyone knows the same exact things as they do. People asking simple questions about whether or not Halo 3 is released on September 25th because they haven't been around for the past decade or two turn into flame-wars. Many of the Halo 3 Forum-goers end up flogging the dead horse. I'm not talking about the fact that 3 threads crop up about the same thing, I'm talking about the consistant attitude towards those who weren't aware that there was a thread about the same thing because it dropped back onto the second page when he scanned to see if it was already posted. Just kindly link them to the other thread that's already been discussing that topic. There's no need for "ZoMG U AM TEH STOOPID!" It's just uncalled for and inappropriate.

Perhaps I'm hyperbolizing, maybe I'm not even getting my point across, but what it boils down to is that if the Flood and the Halo 3 Forum can change, ever so slightly, there might not be such a huge problem with those forums. I don't care if you agree, or disagree, with me. I'm just saying what I think. And, I think that my portion on the Halo 3 Forum didn't come out as well as I'd've hoped, but I think you guys will get the point.

Should the Moderating staff consider banning ignorance?

If that were the case, we wouldn't have more than five members to begin with. : /

No, that's actually no so true these days. Or... it wasn't the last time there was an official consensus. Most moderators suggest adding them to your MSN account and reporting violations there. Most moderators said that they don't check the gmail account very often any more. Granted, that was at least four months ago, so it could be different now.

Ok look, creating an alt breaks the #1 rule. Did you appeal to achronos or master mods explaining your situation, ask for a 1 month ban or something like that? Also, putting *eats lego* at the end of every post wasnt helping you much.

Basically youre doing the same thing as pillage, in that you are breaking the rules and creating new accounts. I'm sure youve flamed him, weve all flamed that troll.

Even I have an alt, an inactive and an unused alt maybe, but still an alt. Sometimes there are good reasons for having an alternate. I DID NOT create mine for ban bypass, but to get my correct gamertag linked. Of course, avoiding a ban is the wrong reason, but as long as the guy behaves after being banned once I don't see the problem in his alt. If he does anything wrong though, he should get the hammer every single time he makes a new alt.

PS: Don't be so quick to throw down the hammer of judgement, we all have done at least something wrong on these forums, purposefully or out of ignorance.

I agree ICE, this forum as a whole needs to mature a bit. Most every thread save for those in the Septagon are spammed by rick rolls, no u, in before the lock, and plenty of other spam posts. Im tired of having to sift through the crap to find the real meaningful discussions. Even in conversations that fly over other members heads, you get idiots posting, "woah guys, its just a game remember?" or, "Looks that nerds.", or my favorite and most basic "stupid nerds". This forum is filled with people who cannot help but belittle each other and spam posts that don't meet their personal criteria. If anything, those people should be banned instantly, since they KNOW that it is just adding to the problem by replying to such stupid threads. If not actually ban, threaten and threaten hard to perma or 1 month ban anyone replying to spam in a negative way (re-directing to another forum and answering their question seriously are not spam, even if the original post is spam).

Exactly what I do. I have two moderators on my MSN account and will report any rule violations to them.

Yes but you have to remember that there are children on this site who's parents may find that very offensive.

....and as concerned, educated and involved parents, they would/could/should either monitor, restrict or participate in how their children use the Internet.
You are aware this is a video game website right? Although it is rated M for Mature anyone who uses Halo 2 Xbox Live knows after two games that Mature rating goes out the window.
