Subject: Should the Moderating staff consider banning ignorance?

I totally agree with codex on his take of these forums.
Although I don't agree with banning ignorance, I do think the H3 forum is overcrowded with people who have no interest in discussing anything.
People who are too hyped up by the advertising campiagns and trailers to see how they are ruining the expeirience of halo for others.
I had a theory. It took me a whole week to create. It was a well reserched theory and was based on my belief that a forerunner is in the ark waiting.
I created a thread to post my theory and then the latest fake spoiler attack hit. My theory was pushed down the list by nonsense posts and the chaos that was caused by the fake spoiler - (it is a fake spoiler by the way)- A mod locked my thread and now it rests in the trash of page two of the halo3 forum. (I triple bumped my own thread)
It is a shame. we should not have to evacuate the forum to avoid this. they should be evacuated.

ps. this is my theory post - its worth a look - http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=12958044

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

If pandemonium is fun, than Satan's lair is a giant water slide.

I bet you it is, too. That and several hunderd computers with Quake III hooked up for LAN games.

Big scare tonight in Halo 3 Forum LOL

Someone who got a hold of the game (which is true) was supposedly posting the real spoilers on another forum (don't know if that was true) and an account was created to spam said spoiler tonight.

I definitely grazed the long paragraph. Thankfully they didn't like...."bold" or "all cap" the important parts. I was close to getting spoiled!

And like 10 threads were made the next minute about this isolated incident. This is probably just the beginning. I'd imagine this week to have potentially the most mass bannings in Bungie.net history.

This is gonna sound weird but admist all the chaos and nonsense it's actually very entertaining to watch LOL

What would really be entertaining was if we were the ones banning them.

With the intending release of Halo 3 and the rising numbers of less than intelligent users on the forum I was wondering if the Moderating staff has considered issuing bans for gross ignorance. Examples of this would include posters who blatantly ignore any type of grammar, logic, or who are utterly devoid of any knowledge relating anything done on these forums.

"Intending" release? A capital M on the word moderating in the middle of a sentence?

Sure why not. We'll start with you.

Unless you conveniently mean, as so many suggesters of ideas like this do, that the cut-off point is somewhere just below you?

You would not act how you think you would.

I would give hugs, not blacklists.

(((((hugs Pezz))))))

PS. I forgot to ask what happened to the "a" in your name Pezz? Inquiring minds want to know. *leans in close....*

Someone hacked his account (Rhymes with Village and ends with Logical) so his account got a total ban so he was forced to create a new account.

Fun for you maybe. But I have the potential riskto read stuff I want to find out by myself. :/

*arms the artillery, sharpens the bankatana, puts extra weight on the banhammer, reloads the banmatic.
Alright, maybe I do take some pleasure in banning people.

Maybe you guys should get a few more mods who would stay online late at night. Someone needs control that forum.

And waste our time of rest? No thanks, why should we bother to keep you guys in line if you can't do it yourselves?
This is a volunteer job with little reward to it. Pay me enough and I'll gladly keep an eye ont he forums at night. Till then you'll just have to deal with the fact the forums run amok at times. And no amount of moderaters will change that.

i messaged a mod about banning idiots, specifically those who reply to spam threads ("banhammer!" "here come the ninjas..." "stfu OMG blah blah blah")

the people complaining about the spam just bump the thread!!

anyways, the response i got basically said if they banned everyone who acted like an idiot, the forums would be dead.

sad, but true.

i wish there was a VIP section for those with an IQ over 100.

We should be able to be left alone by the moderators. They are in no part responsible for the problems. It is the structure of the forum ,and the type of people who post threads about 'ninjas arriving' that are responsible for themselves. I hope the new bungie.net deals with these things.
Maybe making it mandatory for new (and old) members to be tested on the rules of the forum and code of conduct . What do you guys think ?
