I've notice that alot of people just drive around in vehicles and get kills, which takes no skill. But there are some good players but, I doubt there is alot. A majoriy of the players take vehicles. This is just from my observations. Any one else notice this? I've seen my share of good players too.

Well it depends on what you define as skill. (Using Blood Gulch CTF as an example...) Vehicles are an essential part of the game. You can't expect someone to stroll in and out of your base with the flag. The game would last forever. As for casual killing purposes with vehicles, that's a part of the game. Vehicles supporting infantry; infantry supporting vehicles. Against a good team, it takes team coordination of vehicles with infantry to siege a base long enough to steal the flag. Unfortunantely, the majority of Halo CE players know nothing (or just don't care) about teamwork or strategy and just run off and get themselves killed.

If you want to talk about skill, killing vehicles takes skill. Capturing and holding vehicles for your team's use is skill. People that get run over and immediately cry "n00b" just don't understand the game. They may have some skill with say, a pistol, but their lack of understanding of the overall strategy of Halo is pitiable.

I'm trying to get at people who use these vehicles just for kills. Ex. A guy jumps in a warthog and get all his kills with the warthog, and his pistol skills are not good. Is this the reason people grab a vehicle? They can't use the pistol or any other long range weapon?

There are lots of fools in CE who aren't very good. It is no different in PC.

Well, consider this.

A. Warthogs do take skill (Give a first-timer a hog and see what happens)
B. If everyone used a pistol, that gets boring real fast
C. Instead of complaining about warthogs, learn to dismount or kill them

Actually.

A. Warhogs and other vehicles have very easy handling.
B. There are more weapons then the pistol.
C. Who's complaining? My veiw on things should not be considered complaining.

No one likes a smart ass.....especially another smart ass!

This may sound crazy but maybe those people driving around in a worthog are having fun! Unless you are playing in a competative league or competition, who really cares how someone plays? Why are people so hung up on this skill thing. Do you feel better about yourself if you are good at a game? I remeber when games were about having fun, not being a measurement of someone's worth.

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

I agree entirely with Nomaderwho. I don't play games to trash talk about my 1337 skills and about how everyone else sucks and whine about how someone is hog n00bing, I play for fun.

The "easy handling" of vehicles doesn't guarantee kills. There are ways to avoid any kind of vehicle; it depends on the skill of the driver/pilot against the skill of the to-be-roadkill (?). Both take time to develop, like any skill, in Halo or anywhere else.

In almost every game in a map of decent size, (big enough to have vehicles) pistol is the most frequently used. In fact, if there were no vehicles, any experienced player would use pistol almost all the time. There's just no match in functionality and availability. You yourself pointed out:Posted by: fiagra

You started a thread saying Halo takes no skill to point out the "lack of skill" a majority of people have when using vehicles. That sounds a little like complaining. I'm guessing you've been run over too many times in one day.

I like acting like someone new in a server and running people over with vehicles and using the vehicles until they get pissed off enough to say you are a "noob" and I quote. Then I proceed to kill them repeatedly with a pistol and they seem to be fine with it.

One thing I have learned after all these years that no matter what weapon you use there is always somebody that will make up an excuse to call you bad.

Halo CE forever!

Just pick up a clan ([Ololllol something here]24/7ded) server or look for a 1337 server where you can see something like this: ŋĭĈΞ headshotclan ûbersever.

Yeah, I've learned to dodge vehicles very well. I had a ghost and a banshee from the same team trying to run me over at the same time, and I kept avoiding them and killed them both with an AR and Pistol. With a little practice, it becomes pretty easy to predict Warthog movement with grenades and flip them.

I like to laugh at the people who complain about how they were killed. Other than spawnkilling, it's all the same to me. Hogs are easy to take out with a well placed nade. I cringe when I'm a gunner in a hog and the driver makes a beeline for an enemy on foot, especially if they have an FRG or rocket– keep your distance and let your gunner nail him.

Never drive at an enemy facing you if you can help it, they'll nade you or blast you with HW... or they'll whine about how you killed them.

When on foot, dodging hogs is a skill, like bullfighting.

Halo CE forever!

I bet fiagra is a Halo 2 player and can be seen mostly in Midship MLG-like games (or he's just oldschool pc gamer who plays Quake, UT, or CS and have heard that Halo PC is a game what takes skill), and now wants to find a good server where are plenty of good players. Today, I would say; go find some Hang Em High or Derelict slayer servers. These two pretty small maps are good for small amount of players and if there are skilled people playing there, newbies get out of there pretty quick.

If you don't want to play with these "vehicle nubs" look for a dedicated server, join game, see if there are 1) people who infinitly take the vehicles for a joyride instead of using guns, 2) people who stand still and don't know what the h3ll they are doing, 3) people who prefer heavy guns and can't use basic guns what are, at the beginning of the game, given to your hands. If you can't see more than one or two person like I told you about, have fun in your 5UP3R 1337 game.

In almost every multiplayer game, the players will come up for a term to insult any kind of play style you have. I've been insulted for using shees and tanks (a few years ago), nades, going on several shottie-sprees, the pistol, heavy weapons, warthogs, you name it. There are those who get killed repeatedly by some method and try to make it look bad.

Players who simply aren't very good tend to focus on negative aspects of your play and insult you so they don't have to feel as bad about themselves. It's a sign of immaturity.

Why i dont use VoIP, anyways when i get shot its either funny or cool, now when someone repeatedly kills you 10 seconds after spawn? THAT is -blam!-, stupid and sucky. Now Halo multiplayer is, i hate to quote the Bungie Vidoc " unpredictable" too true, i mean which self respecting PC player ever goes for the sword? NO BODY, cause ive cut down sword user with an SMG. Halo isnt about skillz or any of that crap, even the best will die during a game noone will be invincible man NO ONE. I play, you know how i play? in a warthog, thats how, usually solo i dont get loads of kills, simply cause people ARENT STUPID, im not saying this thread argues that H2V is too easy, its just that its a helluva a lot more unpredictable because well, PC players can shoot up the predictable players all too easy.
