There are currently 4 books;

Fall of Reach,
The Flood,
First Strike,
Ghosts of Onyx.

Soon, they're releasing a new book, Contact Harvest. I do not know the release date. I do know they are making ANOTHER book after Contact.

Fall of Reach takes place before Halo 1, written by Eric Nylund.

The Flood takes place DURING Halo 1, tells the story in more detail (like, what Keyes was up to while you played through the levels), can't remember author

First Strike takes place AFTER Halo 1, BEFORE Halo 2. Tells you what happened in between. Eric Nylund.

Ghosts of Onyx takes place AFTER Halo 2, BEFORE Halo 3. Eric Nylund.

Contact Harvest takes place before all books and games, just as we first contact the Covenant. Tells us what happened at first, how, etc.

I have 3 of them, they're pretty good, and I don't usually read books. Haven't got Onyx yet.
