Promised some one on these forums that i would quote this word for word from the magzine i read this in.

"Take the war to the Covenant..."
At some point in Halo 2, the Covenant's assault on our home planet comes to a close. Just don't expect the end-game credits to roll when it happens. Instead, Master Chief and Cortana will zip deep into the heart of Covenant territory, attacking the source of the enemy's power. "We're definitely going to take the war to the Covenant in this one," Jones says. The climactic battle that follows will bring a measure of closure to the Halo saga, something that was missing from the first game. "In halo 1, you faced disaster after disaster," Jones says, "and by the end of the game you hadn't really gotten anywhere except saving the galaxy three different ways. Ultimately, humanity was in the same place as when the game started."
Bungie won't tell us much about Master Chief's encounters on the Covenant's home turf- other than that it'll be nothing like the alien homeworld in Pc/Ps2 shooter Half-Life. We do know Halo 2 will reveal a lot more about the aliens and the motives behind their intergalactic assault and baattery on humanity. "I think they were so mysterious in the first game that people saw the Covenant as very flat," Jones says, "or they just came across as the stupid cliche of an alien race that ruthlessly attacks mankind. Nobody knew about their social structure or anything. but i had hoped people would give us credit and realize there's more to the Covenant than what we showed. We're really really expanding on them in Halo 2. There's a whole bunch of the story we still have left to tell, and tht's going to be a lot of fun."
Revelations come in from of new alien races, chief among them the prophets (see page 220) and the Brutes (see right), with more alien enemies to be revealed later. Some revelations will even come from the orginal Halo- at least once the sequel shows you what to look for. "All through Halo 1, we were putting in the hooks for Halo 2," Griesemer admits. He's refering to the first game's mysterious little details, such as the scattered symbols on Halo and the funky history lessons from 343 Guilty Spark. "Almost nothing in Halo was random," he says. "I think a lot of people are going to play Halo 2 and then go back and play Halo 1 and see a lot of things they didnn't see befor."

Well thats just a bit of the Halo 2 stuff that is in this Magazine. (if you see any typos please excuse me it took a while to type all that.

First off, no bumping. Secondly.

How do you know we are going to attack a (there's more than one) Covenant homeworld when they say " take the fight to the Covenant? " We don't. The thing is we never really brought the fight to the Covenant, they always brough it to us. The only occasion in which we did bring it to the Covenant was during Operation: First Strike. That is the only time that we ever did.

Now as for attacking one of the Covenant homeworlds. Sounds fun, but the likelyhood of the UNSC getting past their defenses is slim and I mean very slim.

Ok Ive said it befoe and I'll say it again it's impossible we couldn't destroy a covie planet let alone all of them. Ok when MC fets to earth in the trailer right when he gets there even if in that very second he arrives the entire covie fleet is destroyed we couldnt "bring the fight to the covenant." Nearly all the UNSC's fleet is gone and the marines are being killed by the millions there is no way could take a planet from them our army is practicly gone and even if we wanted to we don't know where any of their planets are. Now you may be tempted to say MC and cortana could do it if MC went onto a covie planet armed with a BR and a SMG even if he was destined to win it would take him like 25 years to kill every covie on that planet. Instead I think MC is going to use that supposed new halo against the covies and wipe them out.

We are on our last limb here. And we have a fair fight, meaning victory is not assured, when we outnumber them 3-to-1. Then you must take into account the all ships they lost at Reach, the armada at Halo, and the Unyielding Heirophant as well as the estimated 500 ships around it, and then the Prophet of High Truth going " Only an insignificant set back". Then of course there is Covenant security. Remember when they said that any rock larger than a centimeter that came in system was scanned, targeted, and nuetralized? Sounds like we don't have a chance of making an attack on any of their homworlds with what we have left.

but it could be possible if they find a new way to travel trough slippspace (the effect of the crystal in first strike)

we could use halo against them.
we could use the forerunner technology that we find on earth against them (maybe that's one of the main reasons they are trying to obliterate us).
we could use some cloak technology in a massive invasion.
we could have a small surgical strike aboard a stolen vessel and knock out they're defenses (the covies probably overconfident).
we could use important strategic information and or codes from captured prophets and knock out their defenses that way.

Problem is, the Prophets are all behind these defenses, at least any prophet that is worth capturing.

this is wy I thinnk one of the new spieces of alien is going to be on ower side. not to come to the rescue but give us a hand up in numbers.

OR

there could be a revolution in the covonent ranks. mabie something about the Prophets voilating the "covanant" made between them and the Eleetes(the founding races) that could cut the covanant forces in half mabee even more. judging by the way they fight against humans. just think how devestating they could be against themselves.

I was thinking the same thing nearly all the human war ships were destroyed. And also we didnt stand up to the covenant for long on reach despite the fact there were over 30 spartans fighting. "Atack the the covenant home world" god knows how many planets they have and the prophet of truth is guarded by 1000 gold elites. One more thing after the remaining spartans destroyed the awaiting fleet bound for earth there were still spartans alive so they should be in halo2 we'll just have to wait and see........

Mankind's one true skill is innovation. In whatever endevour we find a means to accomplish was formerly impossible. Never was this more true then in warfare.

Humanity will find a way. Be it adapting forerunner technology for an entirely new purpose or taking over the Covenant's defensive systems and directing them upon themselves. Mankind will prevail thought the cost may be high.

Cortana does say something like (youll recognize it if you have read) "Humanity still has a fighting chance <against the covenant> , given we are given enough time"
Humanity will survive and kick the Covenant asses across the galaxy by means of halo or something else

Yeah and those Novas never went off, or were never said to of. Leading me to believe that those Novas are nothing more than duds.
