I mean seriously, when you go into the Halo 3 Forum all you see is "SIGN HERE IF YOU'RE PLAYING AS A SPARTAN/ELITE IN HALO 3" "SIGN HERE IF YOU'RE PLAYING HALO 3 ON LEGENDARY" "SIGN HERE IF YOU'RE GONNA PICK YOU'RE NOSE" I'm really sick of it. It's utter spam and is always getting repeated. Are the moderators aware that these threads are spam and should be locked?

Don't you agree, Dr Cox, that we should allow the moderators to decide what is or is not spam? Besides that, in my opinion, there are much spammier threads going on in the Halo 3 Forum right now than a "sign here if you're gonna be an Elite" thread. But it's really not up to us to categorically decide what should or should not be locked. I guess I'm just taking issue with the phrasing of your post, which is pretty conclusive. Perhaps a rewording might sound less petulant and demanding.

If you're looking for good Halo 3 discussion without spam, the Halo 3 Forum is not the place to go. A friendly suggestion is that you try some of the private groups dedicated to Halo 3 discussion. Let us know if you want any suggestions and lots of people will be happy to give them to you.

Dr. Cox. A word of advice, because it seems like you are easily aggitated by the Halo 3 forum.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

If I have learned anything about Bungie and their moderating staff from all my discussions with MLG people...it's that they don't know anything about anything. So they wouldn't even know that it's spam unless we the fans told them right? Cause they don't know nufin!

Although I do agree that some of those threads tend to be on the more annoying side, I don't really see a problem with them. There aren't that much worse if at all than compared to the other threads in the H3 forum.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

cox, exactly how many mods do you think there are?

given your recent complaints about the posts in the forums, you must think that there are about 10,000 moderators who are able to read every post and then make value judgments concerning whether given posts are up to the standards of being on a free video game thread.

i enjoy reading thoughtful posts quite a bit, but i do not think that bungie or the mods should take any of the measures that you have suggested.

I am quite aware about how many moderators there are on www.bungie.net. But some moderators don't deserve their positions. Like Senor Leche, he is an aviator (which is awesome) so he doesn't have time to moderate the forums so why keep a space filled with a person with a life (no offense other moderators) and give it to a user who is on a lot and who abide by and know the rules.

It's not a matter of quantity. We want to make sure a moderator knows what he's doing. Simply because he's on 24/7 doesn't mean he can be trusted.
Even the mods that are online once in a while are mods for a reason, we rather have them than no mod at all or some schmug pretending to be one.

But there are plenty of "qualified" candidates that they could "induct" right now. I understand that Tom is up to his eyeballs in work with the upcoming launch but it seems like the current mods are getting burned out quickly because they seem to have too much to do with too few people to do it. Maybe I'm reading too much into a recent development, but that seems like the current mentality.

I'm sorry, I really don't mean to drive this into another, "we needz more modz" threads.

Of course!

* CompoundIntelligence ("CI") is the largest group on Bungie.net and is dedicated to discussion of the Halo Universe, storyline, plotline, and backstory. It was originally the premier Iris ARG group, but has repurposed since the end of the ARG. Activity is excellent but not spammy, and the group's mods keep discussion tightly focused. There are no off-topic posts or spam permitted here.

* Mjolnir Battle Tactics ("MBT") is a group dedicated to discussion of Halo 3 strategy. One of Bungie.net's oldest and largest groups, it was originally founded to discuss Halo 2 strategy and has now repurposed itself. Activity is very good.

* Halo 3 Community ("H3C") discusses all things Halo 3, but activity has dropped off since school started back up in the fall. Expect activity to rise again once Halo 3 launches.

* Popular Fusion ("PF" or "Pop Fu") is a private chapter (joining requires approval) that discusses all kinds of things, including Halo 3. Despite its large size, it's a pretty tight-knit community. From what I hear, activity is excellent.

Hope that helps, man!

Well I'm striking out Popular Fusion and MBT because those groups are just filled with spam and their only goal is to have the most members, I'll be happy to join the other two though.

I was an admin for a short while in Pop Fu. I recommend you stay away from that place.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

I'm waiting for the mods to ban SDF discussion in the Flood first.

All joking aside, even if it is true, I have one suggestion for you; as weggie said, don't go there. Simple as that. Besides, they still haven't even gotten close to being as horrible as the 'Rate the ___________ of the person above you!' threads. *knocks on wood*

To me, the worst thing that goes on in the Halo 3 forum right now is "I'll see ya in a week threads". It's not that I don't care your leaving. But why make a whole thread about it? If you ask me, the "thank you bungie" topic should turn into the "thank you bungie and see ya after Halo 3 launches" topic.
